Ten Lieutenant Arnold was there in less than twenty minutes. He listened while Pamela Cantwell sobbed out her story. It was pretty much as I’d outlined it. A police stenographer was taking it down as she talked. When she’d finished, I filled in the few things she’d left out. In the meantime, a policeman had administered first aid to Hank. Then the Lieutenant took them away. I promised I’d be in Monday to make my statement formally. I left, too. I was tired. I parked the car beside the hotel and headed for my bungalow.
