Sirena pov

“So whatcha going to do if your mate isn’t here either? I mean I know we came to see how to get on friendly terms like this pack has with witches but you’ve been to every other pack and no sign of the mystery mate?” My betta Luckas said with a slight worried expression on his face.

I know he only wants the best for me and honestly I didn’t know. I’ve been alpha for three years and my pack is slightly worried I’m almost practically a Apha king at this point seeing as I almost have a peace treaty with all of america besides this last one that I have yet to meet the Alpha and they (my pack and the ones who rely on me) are worried I wont have an heir to the title though it’s not like I need one so soon I plan on being in charge till every pack treats everyone equal and we don’t have to worry about the prophecy war against the vampire ruler Draconix. He’s finally in power and he has such a hatred for the other supernatural kinds. Only Alpha bloodlines know about it and until today we didn’t think it was so close.

“My mate isn’t as important as keeping all of the supernatural kind safe.” I said knowing that the statement even though my wolf agreed for the most part still hurt her.

‘I want our mate’ She said with a whimper and I zoned out Luckas to console her.

‘Trust me I want them as well but we know nothing, not even what gender they belong to and none of this helps girl. We have to focus on the war, we have to find the Quaesitum wolf. The wolf that was born fully wolf but has the powers of a true beast among us.’ I know calling the wolf that is supposed to save us a beast may sound awful but I meant that as a complement seeing as this wolf is supposed to almost rival a lycan the original wolves.

‘Just promise me soon we will do everything to find them?’ She asked me almost pleading and I coulndt respond with words, only nodding was my only response I could muster up.

It was said that the Quaesitum wolf is born from noble blood and thanks to the goddess they will on their eighteenth birthday get their power at midnight. Not a single pack has had the wolf show up yet and my kind is getting desperate.

I was told a girl Jessica and a few others are all turning eighteen tomorrow and seeing as we will be getting there around one in the morning if the wolf isn’t here I don’t know what to do.

‘Jessica is a nice name’ my wolf said and I agreed though I've met many with that name. Jessica seems special for some reason and I don’t even know her.

“HEYYYY” I looked up to see Luckas staring at me through his peripheral vision and an annoyed look on his face.

“Sorry Anna wanted to talk” My wolf perked at her name leading me to roll my eyes.

“Sure blame your wolf for not listening to me explain the game plan when we get there.”

“You mean the plan I made three weeks ago? That I told you?” I said and he smirked.

“The one and only but Gamma Lily and I thought it over and it seems a bit brash.” He said a smile on his face mentioning our other best friend and my Gamma who was currently sleeping in the back.

“Why is it brash? We meet the alpha then go straight to the homes of the newly eighteen year olds?”

“When they and their entire family is asleep?” He gave me a puzzled look.

‘I like the idea, sneak up on ‘em and scare them they shouldn’t be asleep the minute we walk on their porch. As warriors and all.’ Anna said with a wolfish smirk, then it dawns on me on how awkward that would be.

“Okay I get it but what are we supposed to do?” I said not wanting to be a creep in a pack I'm a welcomed guest in.

“Well when a wolf shifts for the first time and seeing as it would be the first shift of the Quaesitum wolf in their true form we wait till they howl and if it’ s there then we get them.” The first shift I cringe internally, when a wolf shifts for the first time it is excruciating and has killed weaker wolves before.

“But what if they need help shifting?” I say worried for the wolf who has to go through it.

“We aren’t blood related or mates to them so it wouldn’t do much.” Lukas said, giving me a pointed look and I know he’s right but still as an Alpha I wish I could do something.

“Don’t try to beat yourself up, you know it’s not a power any Alpha has.” Luckas said, almost reading my thoughts.

I sighed, beat by the facts. Luckas told me to take a nap seeing as it will be a few hours till we get there and I heed his advice knowing having no energy will do no good.

I slip into a dream of the Quaesitum wolf.

-The dream-

I was walking on a farm and I could see the front door busted open and three people looking towards something I couldn’t see yet all with hands either over their mouth or tears flowing down till they reached the jaw and practically disappeared. There was a woman in her forties and a man the same age and young man as well looking around the age of twenty just standing there in shock.

I walk up to them and try to console them but my hand goes through them puzzled. I look toward where they are turned. There is a barn and close to it a wheatfield and a place for cattle. Running into the wheatfield was someone shifting into a wolf but they were almost fully wolf only human hind legs remained. I walked and ran towards this person wishing to help as their family did nothing.

I reached them and they had a tail now and were almost done. I walked up to them but they growled and tried to tell me to go away but I could tell they didn’t know I understood the message they tried to persuade me to go away.

“I want to help you.” I said finally breathing in their scent while also putting my hand on their back and realized who this is to me, my mate is the Quaesitum wolf.

My mate relaxed into my touch before a wave of pain hammered into them and in an attempt to push me away they accidentally clawed my upper right arm. I flinched but knew it was an accident however as soon as my mate saw my blood I could see in their eyes they felt remorse and extreme guilt and started to run away from me.

To this I tried to follow to no avail in human form so before I knew it I shifted and chased after knowing my mate didn’t intend to harm me. I was also trying to break their mental wall down to form a mind link.

I got in and immediately told this person my mate to stop running to which they did then howled, Then I realized they finished the shift and just before I got to them I woke up to someone grabbing my arms.

‘WAKE UP! The wolf is here and transforming causing a problem at the farm of lucity we have to go quickly!” I saw Luckas saying to me frantically while also trying to drag me with him.

Before thinking I did it, I relived my dream only this time the parents were crying and I could touch them and I left my beta and gamma with them and I met my mate but only in wolf form.
