It happened so fast, the last few days. I haven’t been able to really be with my mate and that has been killing me but we both know how important things are now. I just got talking to a very pissed Luckas. He tried to talk bad about my mate but I had shut him up with a growl and a warning. I decided to look for Jessica seeing as I knew she felt guilty, we haven’t talked about what had happened with the scar on my arm. I didn’t know that an injury from a mate would scar, I had told her I didn’t care but in reality it did hurt a little. It was an accident just like what happened with Lilly. I was heading towards the training field when I saw the alpha running towards the woods. I followed him worried for what was happening, a bad feeling burning in the pit of my stomach. We ran for a few minutes and we landed on an abandoned house. It looked in rough shape but it had not collapsed on itself which was a miracle of its own. I walked in and saw my mate, smelling her and rotten the rotten corpse almost simultaneously. I walked towards her slowly, I’m pretty sure this is the first time she’s ever seen a corpse let alone a planned murder of a family. “Jessica, come with me you shouldn’t be seeing this.” I grabbed her arm and she moved with me but I could tell that there was something wrong with her and the bodies flashed in my head making me shiver. I have killed countless rouges and a few traiders and have seen death my enitire life, never a murder like this though. I took her to her room telling her mom who had just put a pitcher of tea in the fridge while I walked in what had happened. I knew that Jessica’s mom was worried but my mate was a bit more important than making her mom happy with an explanation. I sat Jessica down on her bed and slipped off her shirt seeing as it was all dusty and gross. I didn’t even think of her in a lustful way knowing that she needed to get out of the nasty clothing. I went in her draw after taking her pants off and seeing a nice black simple sleeping gown and decided that it was late enough in the day so she could go to bed early. “I’m going to let you go to bed early, it’s been a long day for you and you need the rest. I’ll be downstairs for a bit to explain to your mom of what you had gone through.” I told her while slipping the sleeping gown on. I laid her down and tossed her comforter on top of her. I gave her a kiss on the head and waited till her eyes closed before leaving the room with a heavy sigh. I walked down the stairs and a worried mom stared at me expecting an explanation. “So? What happened to my daughter Serina?” She completely dropped the Alpha title like as if I was a child Anna growled and I told her to calm down. I knew that the authority we had as an Alpha made it hard for someone to back talk to us without us going agro on someone but I maintained myself for Jessica. “She was training with Lilly and something happened. I don’t have all the details on that but Jessica had knocked Lilly out and Jake took Lily to the pack hospital and Jessica ran away and landed at this abandoned house where she found the dead body of three people one being a little kid. I got there as soon as I could. She hasn’t said a word since she was found. I put her to bed seeing as it’s six she can go to bed and it wouldn’t be early enough so where it messed her sleep schedule up.” I said leaving out a few details about how I reacted and the fact I wanted to say that Jessica screamed instead of calling out for me through the mate mind link. “I can’t believe she found…my poor baby.” Her eyes held pure fear and I could believe it, it felt as if Jessica’s family was a perfect little bit of midlevel people. ‘Noble family is what the wolf we were looking for was born from.’ Anna said in my head and I agreed. I gave her a sad smile and she returned one back to me. A few days later Serina pov It has been a few days and it took a day for Jessica to be able to talk and eat again. She wanted to apologize but I quickly shut that down telling her she didn’t need to apologize to me, she had to take time to digest the death that she had seen, it caused an investigation to open up. The alpha felt bad that I had to see this. I told him worse has happened, that wasn’t a joke either. “Hey how does this look?” Jessica asked, coming out of her closet wearing a dark blue dress with sheer sleeves it looked amazing on her though the occasion wasn’t one to give lustful looks towards my mate. The pack decided to hold a funeral for the family. They were not very high in rank but they were a warrior family. The alpha recognized them after a DNA sample was done and they recreated a picture of the family for the funeral and the pack’s alpha cried for them and had beaten himself for not realising what had happened to them. For now no one knew the crime was a decade old and the only possible witness the daughter was missing, somehow having disappeared from the pack without anyone knowing. “You look lovely baby! I’m glad you decided to do this! If it’s too hard then we can always leave.” I told her getting off her bed and holding her waist from behind her, it was one of my favorite positions to be in with her lately. She looked into her full body mirror a slight smile came across her face as she looked at me through the mirror. “Thank you, I know I had no connection to them but I felt like I had to be there.” It was going to be ashes spread along the swimming hole, Jessica was the one to suggest it to Alpha. She explained how that had been the place that everyone loved to go to and had hoped that the family would like it as well. We shortly after walked to the swimming hole ourselves seeing as it was time. The service was beautiful and even though most didn’t know the family personally all could feel the overwhelming sadness and there were so many people who cried, Jessica was included. I felt no emotion towards the family but I did feel bad for how they went out, no one who is good deserves that as their fate. I wondered what their lives would have been like and where the daughter was at now. She had to be around ten or thirteen at the most seeing as there were no records on her and the photos in the house were the only indication of her existence. “Thank you for coming with me.” Jessica said her head on my shoulder in the hug she had captured me in.
