Ride

Angel The mansion soon passes, with each inch away from the place the goosebumps settle. I can finally settle back into my seat when it's finally out of sight. The breath I'd been holding releasing. Where the gate ends, another forest of trees greets us. The colors vibrant and lively once more. Luckily for us the camp is not far out. We take a left and pass under a new sign that reads ‘Camp Corvus’. Bree eagerly jumps out when we pull up to the check-in office. Jessie and I both step out of the vehicle to stretch our legs. My crimson sweater peaks up over the hem of my leggings, exposing the soft part of my stomach. A cool chill sways the trees, sending a welcoming shiver over my skin. Scuffling my silver hair, I slip a beanie on to hide my dark roots. “Any clue what the cabin looks like?” Jess matches my stretch. “Nata, I leave everything up to Bree.” It doesn't matter what it looks like really. My curiosity being in how much alone time I can give them. Not wanting to be too much of an object in the way of personal time. Personal time that would not be easy with a thin tent. Moving my head back and forth, my neck cracks. “What day will Bree's friends get here?” “Tomorrow night, I think.” Jess moves his arms back and forth stretching. From what Bree had told us, and being the outdorsey people they are, her friends were still rocking it in a tent. They would battle the elements in the chilly morning and long nights. Something I give them credit for. My eyes wander around the place, taking in the area. Even here, cars of people pull in, where others pull in crowds of people walking down a path. Pointing to the path, “Where do you think that leads to?” Pushing up the bridge of his glasses he still squints to see. “Beats me. Oh wait.” Following him to a large map we look over it. The contents carved into wood that’s been colored with green paint. The area we stand reads ‘you are here’. The name beside reads ‘Camp Corvus Check In’. The area is large, almost scary large. There is an area reading cabins that sits on the far edge, behind it is nothing but woods, to the right a line reading trail travels to the amusement park. Going farther past that takes us to the haunted trails which are closer to town, almost right beside the town. On the opposite end of the town is the festival grounds. The trail in question takes people right into town. A bus stop is placed at the edge of the trail before the large town takes over the remainder of the map. Certain locations stand out marking what I take as important landmarks. I joke,“Guess we really can get anywhere here.” Not an entirely untrue statement. But the way Bree made this place sound was like a walk through the park. Looking at the very size of this map reveals how large the area's are. No wonder we are here for so long. The amount of things to do close to endless, or at least three weeks worth of events and sights. We will be taking the buss every chance we get. Jess laughs hallowly. “True. but I suggest we take a bus to the festival grounds, which looks to be a long walk.” I smirk at Jess. “You read my mind.” Bree comes out holding two keys smiling ear to ear. “Alright, let’s get our stuff in, change, and head out!” She places one in my hand. Hopping back into the car, Jessie drives us all past a*****e, rows of tents, lines of campers, finally the car’s tires crunch on gravel leading us to our destination. Tucked far back into the woods our heavenly cabin comes into view. Cabin 393 surrounds itself with yellow and orange trees. The dark burgundy wood pops against the outside hue of colors. It’s a tad small, with a small porch with two chairs and a wooden seat swing. The shape is very boxlike with a triangle roof, a singular window juts out over the cover of the porch. Eagerly we all jump out. Swinging my bag over my shoulder I walk up to the porch. Bree already has the door open while Jessie begins opening the back for our luggage. The moment my feet step through the door the smell of baked apples fills the air. A small loveseat and recliner rests across from the fireplace, in the corner is a large Tv. Behind the recliner is the kitchen. The design is homely. Nothing out of the ordinary causing the hairs on the back of my neck to stand. Instead the place making me feel at ease. “Angel, do you mind if we take the master bedroom?” Bree calls from down the hall. At the far end of the cabin she pokes her head out of the room. “Not one bit, mind if I take the upstairs?” I point above us. Her smile is large and beautiful. “Works for me!” On the far right of the cabin is a small table and chairs before the steps lead up. Climbing them I allow my hand to run over the polished wood railing. There’s a small pathway with two doors overlooking the remainder of the cabin. Jessie walks in dropping the first suitcase. His pale eyes look up to me. “I’ll leave you to carry this upstairs.” “Thank you, Jess.” I call down to him. Turning my attention back around I continue to inspect. The first door at the top of the steps opens up to a small bathroom. The interrier also as simple. Mostly wood with a white toilet and tub. The rest in that lovelt apple wood. The second one sits by the edge of the banister. Opening the door I enter the place where I’ll be staying for the next two weeks. The room is small, but cozy. A single window shines the sunlight across the black and red comforter. Beside the bed is a single nightstand with a lamp, crows plast themselves into the fabric. A small tv is on the wall beside me. Walking in, I sit on the bed taking it all in. The lovely smell of apple’s fill my lungs, outside the rustling of leaves ripple over the wall of the cabin. It will be a nice place to call home for this short period of time. With my suitcase open, I already begin to pull my clothes and makeup out. I sit them on the edge of the bed. Next is placing my lone book on the side with the nightstand. I'll make sure to hit that bookstore to score other reading material. Taking my empty dirty laundry sack, I hang that on the closet. Ensuring to keep the clothes seperated. Once the room feels more like mine is when I take my leave. Stepping out of the room I call down, “Jessie, how long do I have to get ready?” There’s a delay. Most likely him asking Bree first. “Twenty minutes,” he calls back. “Got it!” That’s perfect and enough time. In the bathroom, my hands rip open my makeup. Adding a soft red to my eyes, it blends out onto my pale skin. I then add a bit of liner and mascara before starting on the rest. Once the rest of my face is on it’s time to dress in my dark attire. Slipping the sweater off, a tight long sleeve striped shirt replaces it. Overtop a cropped band shirt goes over adding in some red to tie up my whole look. I then switch out the beanie for a red bandana to hide my ever growing roots. Something I should have had attended before we left. The bandana only hides the black enough to look like a shadow in the right lighting. Adjusting it once more, I eye the blue contacts on the side of the sink. My fingers itching to cover the natural color of my eyes. Before my mind can make up the decision, I scoop them up and throw them into the bottom of my makeup bag. Once done I do a good look over of myself. Deciding it’s best for the first night, I hook my jacket over my arm and descend upon my people. Bree looks adorable in her blue plaid shirt and dark tights. She too had to refresh and put loose braids in her hair. Jessie’s attire matches mine more, with the subtle dark vibe taking over. On his shirt is the name of a band we recently saw the month prior. The green title matches his black and green plaid shirt. He claps his hands together. “Alright, with the gang all ready, where to go first?” Bree and I share a look, in unison we reply, “The Town.”
