The Tears

After a refreshing shower, Elle felt refreshed, took her time to unpack.

She put her clothes to the small closet, and her toiletries to the small bathroom.

Then she looked at her journal. She caressed the cover. Her food journal, the silent witness of her love of food, how she put everything into creating every recipe, putting a piece of herself into the recipes.

She thought she had succeeded in making her dreams come true. Running her own restaurant, creating original recipes, enjoying her customers’ wonder and satisfaction. It has been her happiness for few months but one wrong move, and she lost everything. She put her trust to her boyfriend, Carl.

Carl, a smooth talker, entered her life with all the sweet promises of building their dream together . What she did not know, Carl never dreamed about owning a restaurant with her. Elle, who concentrated on creating original recipes, did not realize that Carl has started the process of taking over the restaurant from her. That day, she found the documents and confronted the slimy bas***d. She got the shock of her life.

Carl, being in flagrante delicto with Cindy, her now-ex-best friend.

Like a loser, she tucked her tail and ran.

A lone tear ran through her cheeks. She felt angry with herself for feeling down.

“Quit mopping, Elle, why still think about the past?” Elle berated herself.

Knock Knock..

“Elle, honeybunch, are you there?” Aunt Beth called to her.

Elle opened the door. “Hello, Aunt Beth.”

“Do you settle okay? Already done unpacking?”

“Yup, I’m done.” Elle smiled.

Her Aunt bustled into her bedroom, looked at her intensely. “Okay, honey, let's go. We’ll have some late dinner.”

Elle panicked. She still did not feel ready to be questioned.

Aunt Beth caressed her head. “Don’t worry, we will not talk about anything that you don’t want to share.”

“I’m sorry, Aunt.” Elle allowed herself some tears.

“Oow honey, just cry… Let it out. We’ll always be there for you.” Aunt Beth hugged Elle.
