The Town

The journey was uneventful with the company of the men.

“No mishap, no battle with maps. That’s a first.” Elle wondered.

Then, they drove by the sign of “Welcome to Misty Lane”, she saw that it was not like what she thought.

Misty Lane by no means was large and glamorous like the city, but it was not small and dull either.

The buildings and houses were built with a touch of modern style but still with the charm of the countryside.

The stores were lined up at the main road, grocery store, clothing store, hair-salon, flower shop and even an antique store.

They drove by and stopped at a huge garage with some custom-built Harleys.

The men got off from their motorcycles.

Luca opened her door and said: “Welcome to Misty Lance, cara mia”

Elle shivered just listened to his deep voice. “Ah thank you, so this place is…”

“This is our shop, people come here to get the best,” Nick answered proudly.

She looked at the large garage. “I believe it… Anyway, thank you for accompanying me. If not for you, I think I would still be on the road figuring out the way. Now, I just need to go to my aunt's”

“And who is this aunt of yours?” Marcus asked.

“Elizabeth and George William. I have to call them.” she took her large tote back and rummaged through the contents looking for her phone.

“Gotcha.” She raised her phone triumphantly and started to look for Aunt Beth's contact.

But, Luca beat her to it by taking her phone.

“No need, we know Beth and George, I’ll take you to them.”

“Wait, I can go there by myself, you don’t have to…” she said.

“I insist. Let’s go, I drive”. He put his arm at the small back of Elle and guided her to the passenger side of the car.

Elle entered her car, still confused. “I don’t know what happened here.”

Luca entered the driver's side and started the engine.

“Who gave you permission to ride my beau?” Elle said sharply.

Luca looked at her amused. “Don’t worry, bambina, this beau is safe with me.”

He opened the car window and lifted his chin to Nick and Marcus.

Marcus reciprocated but Nick just burst out laughing and waved to Elle.

Elle: “What’s so funny?”

Luca did not answer.
