I arrive earlier than anyone else at geography class and unpack my things. Today is the day. Today we have to present what we researched about to the whole class.
Jenevive and Elliot finally arrive both looking tired their shoulders slumped.
“Hey guys so I’ve found a lot of information about Agartha. And I’ve written some scripts for you guys so you know what to say.
I motion for them to come over and tell them what I’ve found.
So Agartha is supported by the hallow earth theory- the idea that there is space inside the earth and therefore an unknown world may exist.
Jenevive and Elliot look bored as I babble on about the portals and gateways to Agartha.
Then I talk about the people. An advanced race who are extremely intelligent, healthy and very big. Apparently they live for up to 300 years.
“Guys I think... I think Agartha is real. I read somewhere that the Admiral, the guy you were talking about, I turn to jenevive, was silenced by the government.”
Apparently they already knew about Agartha way before the Admiral did. Doesn’t that seem suspicious?
“You’re really dedicated to this jenevive smiles
“But you do know that we were joking-right?
Agartha doesn’t exist. It’s just some silly legend that-
“Oh but it does I interrupt. Just because it seems silly and so unbelievable doesn’t meant it’s not real. The fact that not may people believe in it makes it all the more believable. The fact that it seems crazy that a whole world literally underneath us exists makes it all the more believable.
I look at their faces hopefully, trying to figure out their expressions. They look uninterested and for some reason don’t have the same spark or energy they had before. Guys we have to do more research. I’m serious this place must exist.
Oh and let me show you something that will for sure change your mind.
I hurriedly grab my phone from my bag and fumble with it clumsily.
“Here look at this,” I show them the picture of the earth determined to prove them wrong.
That’s a picture that NASA took a few years ago. All the way from space. You can clearly see the hole right? I ask them
They nod.
Now looking at this, doesn’t this make you wonder. What is that hole?
That hole is an opening at the North Pole. There’s a lot of space in there and that space is a portal, which you can go through that leads inside the earth.
They look at me like I’ve grown an extra head or something and don’t say anything as I carry on.
I know that sounds insane but listen to this.
NASA after taking that image and knowing what it was because I’m pretty sure they researched it, then DELETED it! I emphasise the word deleted and suddenly I’m moving my hands here and there trying to explain the fact that if NASA deleted that deliberately from their website that tells us that they know something is there. Those images aren’t fake. NASA don’t just lie.
When I finish I’m breathless and I feel this sense of power and excitement but it’s short lived as I look at Elliot and Jenevive. They look back at me like I’ve gone bonkers and sigh.
“Sarkia, that is all fake. Everything is fake. It can’t be real because the earth inside is full of lava. Scientists have done experiments after experiments and they know. The earths inside is full of rock and metal and lava and all that good stuff. There is no magical world. And the earth isn’t hallow. Don’t let a made-up world clash with the real world.”
I present our research to the best of my ability. If they won’t help me then I’ll just do it on my own. It feels like hours after I finish talking. I tell everyone about Agartha. From the plentiful vegetation to the advanced race to the never before seen animals I fill the class in on everything. I don’t care how stupid I sound. Then I show everyone else the pictures of the earth. Some people gasp and look interested. I can see Amira furrowing her eyebrows in thought. Does she know something I don’t?
Jenevive and Elliot have stood back and let me do the talking. I can almost feel their annoyance as I tell everyone that NASA deliberately took down an image that is proof to humanity that something out there exists.
I finish on a diary entry from the Admiral hoping the class will somehow be affected by his words.
March 11, 1947
“I have just attended a Staff Meeting at the Pentagon. I have stated fully my discovery and the message from the Master. All is duly recorded. The President has been advised. I am now detained for several hours (six hours, thirty- nine minutes, to be exact.) I am interviewed intently by Top Security Forces and a Medical Team. It was an ordeal!!!! I am placed under strict control via the National Security provisions of this United States of America. I am ORDERED TO REMAIN SILENT IN REGARD TO ALL THAT I HAVE LEARNED, ON THE BEHALF OF HUMANITY!!! Incredible! I am reminded that I am a Military Man and I must obey orders.”
The class claps and miss Joy asks me:
“So sarkia you really believe that we may be living underneath an ancient kingdom?
“Yes miss I do believe that it may exist. There’s too much we don’t know and I won’t just accept the fact that what the scientists tell us is the absolute truth.
She looks at me strangely almost in pride tilting her head.
I carry on: that poor admiral was told to keep silent. That is also proof that a world exists soewodeep in the earth. There are alot of greedy people who want all the goodness of the world. I’m talking about governments and the people in power. It totally makes sense that they would silence someone who went out there and discovered something so incredible. It makes sense that the government wants everyone to let go of any possibility that a civilisation so advanced may exist. They want it all for themselves it’s so obvious so they make sure that no one finds out about it. They make sure that anyone who does find it is obtained from telling others.
Miss Joy has gone still. The class is awfully quite and then out of nowhere I feel a deep rumble beneath my feet. The tables start shaking and the room vibrates like it’s a phone receiving a call. Everyone panicks and starts running out of the classroom. I can feel my heartbeat speeding up I as grab my belongings and look for Elliot and Jenevive.
I hurriedly run out if the classroom looking everywhere for them. The school hallways is like a field full of angry bulls. Swarms of students run past me each person more frightened than the other, running for their lives. This must be an earthquake I think to myself as I too run out of the school. The building is shaking so much I’m afraid it will collapse at any moment. What if this isn’t an earthquake? I wonder. I read on an article that there are ginormous animals in Agartha. When they run about or even walk due to their massive size and heavy weight it causes the surface of the earth shake. This must be what it is. Not an earthquake but the result of an animals happy wandering.
I finally spot Jenevive and Elliot along with the rest of my class huddled together in a corner of the playground. Everyones has turned white a sheet of sweat coating their faces. They probably think this is an earthquake and that they will die. Wait till I tell them the news. What a shock it will be.
“Guys!” I yell at them. “Guys over here.”
They look around at the sea of faces confused untill their eyes land on me and a wave of recognition befalls them.
“Oh sarkia are you all right Jenevive asks concern written all over her face as she engulfs me in a tight hug
“I’m fine what about you guys I ask as suddenly people swarm around me and ask me if I’m ok.
We’re ok don’t wo- Elliot answers but is cut off by nearly the whole of our year group crowding around me asking if I’m hurt and why did I take so long to exit the building. I smile back reassuringly and tell everyone I’m fine.
I spot laiyla and Saemi holding onto each other, eyes terrified. They see me and dash towards me. The three of us enter into a crushing embrace for what seems like minutes.
They each grab one shoulder and shake me frantically.
“Sarkia where where you?” Demands laiyla
We were so wooried you took ages in there. For a second I...I thought something happened to you sobs Saemi.
“Oh guys,” I answer back through tears
“I love you both so much. I’m fine don’t worry about me at all. Are you two ok though?”
They nod and each hold one of my hands.
I turn to Elliot and Jenevive motioning for them to come over.
Guys listen this isn’t an earthquake in case you were
