Sera’s POV It’s almost midnight when I finally turn off the light. The dorm hums with faint noises water running somewhere, someone laughing down the hall. I’m just starting to drift off when a sound cuts through the quiet. A knock. Not loud, but firm. I sit up, heart already in my throat. Marisol’s not back yet she texted an hour ago saying she was crashing at a friend’s place. Another knock. I climb out of bed, feet silent on the floor, and cross to the door. “Who is it?” Silence.
