Chapter 10

Erica's POV. I lay down flat on my stomach after slamming the door behind me. "What? They are now a couple?" I mumbled. "Erin, you will never live to see another full moon!" I yelled with tears streaming down my face. There was no atom of love left for Jaxon in my heart, but I hated the fact that they were finding happiness together. "How can they hurt me this much and still have the guts to create a union?" I groaned in pain. "Jaxon, with my claws, I will split you into two and give you up for the beast to feed on," I swore while gritting my teeth. I can't sit still and watch them get married; no, I can't; I will fight with every single breath in me. "This hurts so much. How did...." A knock on the door interrupted me. "Just let me be. Can't we do the whatever tomorrow?!" I yelled with irritation. "My lady, the Alpha is here." The head handmaid announced from outside the room. "So what?" I mumbled, cleaning the tears from my face. "Let him in!" I dare not stop the Alpha from entering my chamber unless I want to lose my head. I quickly adjusted my dress as the door to my room flung open. "Greetings, Alpha." I greeted him while bowing slightly. "What are you doing?" he asked in a stern tone. "What do you mean, Alpha?" "Aren't you supposed to be undertaking training now?" He pointed out with a frown. "I never knew you took an interest in these things," I responded with clear sarcasm in my voice. "I won't want to have a Luna with a low knowledge about how things are done here. That's the least you can do; you have no other value whatsoever here." "Can't you just let me have my own life for once? Am I mandated to follow your every tradition here? I'm choked up, please." I dare to snap. Immediately the words fell off my lips. I knew I had touched the tiger's tail. I knew my irritation was proudly sponsored by the news about Jaxon and Erin's marriage, but I transferred it to the wrong person. Dante's face suddenly turned red with anger, his brow furrowed in a technique in which his brows touched each other. "How dare you!" He growls as he moves menacingly towards me. Being humble suits Erica but not Jane. I moved backward slowly as he moved towards me. "How dare you!!" He growls again, this time poking his head in front of him. "Do I need your permission to speak, Alpha?"I growled challengingly as my back touched the wall. "Yes. Now listen carefully: in Riverdale, you might be seen as an important figure, but not here. I'm the Alpha of the Bloodhound pack; what I say is the law." He growled even louder. "You can't speak, eat, walk, or even breathe without my permission. Bloodhound is a thousand miles different from Riverdale; you have no right to question my decision here. You have no right to say no to my wishes; you don't have the right to voice your opinions unless you're asked to. Do you understand?!" he yelled. I didn't answer; I mainly avoided his dead gaze as best as I could, but that angered him even more. He lifted my chin with his finger and wrapped his palm around my neck. "You have no right to keep quiet while I ask you to speak!" He continued with his growling as his hand around my neck tightened even further. I knew it; I'm the girl sold into s*****y under the pretence of a queen. A part of me wanted to fall on my knees and beg for mercy, but the Jane in me wouldn't allow it. Yes, I'm a slave here, but a princess shouldn't be weak. "So, what? You're going to kill me and return my bones to my dad? I heard you like doing that a lot." I smuggled the word from my lips with gritted teeth. His grip around my neck slowly loosened as he stared deeply into my eyes. "You might not make it out alive." He pushed me with his left hand, and that sent me hitting the left wall of the room. "How dare you raise your voice? If I kill you, not even the moon goddess will know where your bones will be." He snarled loudly. "I'm sorry," I mumbled with blood running down my face. I don't know where that came from, but my boldness is gone. I know it won't take him a minute to end my life, and not even Beta Simmons can win against him. "You don't deserve a chance to apologise, you daughter of a...." "Dante!!" His mom yelled with a tightened fist. "What do you think you're doing?" She continued moving steadily towards us. Dante's face slowly returned to normal as his breath stabilised. "I asked you a question: What are you doing? She's bleeding." His mom looked at him with a sharp gaze. "I was... I..." He fumbled with the words while looking at me with disgust. "How dare you anger the Alpha? Are you out of your mind!" his mom yelled at me. "Are you yelling at..." I attempted to question my mother-in-law, but that was one mistake. "How dare you question me? You need to start walking on your toes if you wish to live long," she snapped. "Let's go, son; you need to calm down." She turned to the Alpha and rubbed his back. After sucking in the air for a while, the Alpha let out a loud growl and stomped out. "Thank the moon goddess I arrived just in time." My mother-in-law stated before stomping after her son. I was left all by myself, wailing uncontrollably on the cold floor. "Can things get any worse? Now I have become a punching bag." I mumbled amidst tears. "Was I reborn to be punished for a crime I committed? What could I have possibly done to warrant this? These questions got me sobbing more. "I'm sorry, your grace, the Alpha doesn't act this way every time." The head handmaid rushed in with a first aid box. "Why is he like that?" I yelled without thinking. "It's getting close to the full moon," she responded in a whisper. "What does that mean? What has that got to..." "His behaviour changes every full moon; it gets even more violent." "What?" "I can't explain more; there are a lot of people that might report our conversation. Let's talk about it in a quiet environment." I lost my head for a second. It's true, I got married to a heartless beast....
