Healing in the Mist

603 Words
A week had passed since the battle with the rogue vampires and werewolves, and Elara's body still carried the echoes of the fight. Bruises mottled her skin, scratches traced along her arms and sides, and her muscles ached as though the chaos of claws and teeth had never left. The training yard was shrouded in mist, giving her the illusion of solitude. She moved through her exercises mechanically, her stance off, strikes lacking precision. Her mind replayed the battle over and over: the rogues lunging with teeth and claws, the way she had dodged and struck, the close calls that had left her reeling. Every thought, every nerve, every ache kept her distracted. "Elara!" Beta Leah Vlad's voice cut through the mist. Her best friend and confidante approached, carrying her satchel along with a large vial of donated human blood. Her green eyes scanned every mark on Elara's body, noting every bruise, every scratch. "You look like you survived a war," Beta Leah said softly, kneeling beside her. "And judging by those injuries… you barely made it through clean." Elara exhaled, wincing as she shifted. "It was chaos. Rogues everywhere… I gave everything I had, and my body still feels every strike." Beta Leah nodded, producing herbs and water from her satchel. She carefully cleaned every injury, the antiseptic scent sharp in the misty air. Then she held out the large vial of human blood. "Drink this," Beta Leah said firmly, green eyes unwavering. "You're half-vampire. Animal blood will help, but you need strength. A lot of it. This will heal you faster and restore every ounce of energy you lost in the fight." Elara's hybrid instincts flared, a mixture of caution and awareness. "Human blood?" she whispered, hesitation in her voice. "I… I usually only drink animal blood…" Beta Leah's tone softened but remained firm. "This isn't optional, Elara. You need to heal. You need strength. And you need it now. The longer you wait, the longer your body stays vulnerable. Trust me." Elara hesitated, staring at the dark red liquid. Her body throbbed, muscles screaming for relief, hybrid senses craving the boost. Finally, swallowing hard, she nodded. "Okay… I trust you." Beta Leah guided her carefully as she drank, the warm liquid flooding her veins like liquid fire. She gasped at the intensity—the strength and healing rushing through her body were immediate, potent. Bruises faded, scratches closed, muscles relaxed and regained their tension. She could feel her hybrid senses sharpening, claws and fangs tingling with restored energy, her entire body humming with life. "You feel that?" Beta Leah murmured, brushing damp hair from her forehead. "Your fire is fully awake now. You survived the fight, Elara. Your body is catching up with your courage and instincts." Elara flexed experimentally, amazed. The soreness was gone, every movement sharp and precise. "Already… healed," she murmured, astonished. "All of it?" "All of it," Beta Leah confirmed. "But don't get reckless. Even fire can burn if you push too far." Alone now in the misty yard, Elara adjusted her stance, flowing through her drills with fluid precision and renewed confidence. Every strike was exact, every movement deliberate, every hybrid instinct alive and alert. The battle had left its mark in memory alone—her body was stronger, sharper, and more alive than ever. The yard was silent except for the swish of her movements and the thrum of her hybrid heart. She didn't notice the quiet tension lingering in the mist—the next firestorm, the arrival of Alpha Liam Cullen, would come soon enough. But today, she was whole, healed, and ready.
