The Un-chosen

Diamond Sky training grounds were brutal. Snow-packed earth. Frost in the lungs. No mercy. Ethan attacked like a storm without direction. Alpha Hunter blocked. Redirected. Countered. "Control," Alpha Hunter growled as Ethan lunged again. Ethan shifted mid-strike — claws flashing, wolf energy surging wildly. His power was enormous for nineteen. Too enormous. It spilled instead of focused. Alpha Hunter slammed him into the snow with controlled dominance. Not humiliating. Teaching. "You are not fighting your enemy," Alpha Hunter said low. "You are fighting your grief." Ethan's eyes burned. Before he could respond, a ripple tore through the forest. Alpha Hunter felt it first. Ancient. Hollow. Hungry. The air thinned. Ethan staggered slightly as if something brushed against his wolf — testing. Alpha Hunter moved instantly, releasing Apex dominance that shook the trees. "Stand," he ordered. Whatever presence lingered… retreated. But not far. It had tasted the heir. Three women circled Ethan later that afternoon like polished predators. Carmen Thorn – daughter of the Blue Valley Pack - beautiful but sharp-tongued, ambition dripping from every word. Karen Force – daughter of the Blue Shadow Pack - elegant, calculating, raised to be Luna since birth, but cruel beneath the refinement. Erin Night – daughter of the Howling Pack - bold, possessive, already acting as if the position belonged to her. "You'll need a Luna soon, Erin purred. "A pack cannot stand without one," Carmen added smoothly. Erin stepped closer, touching Ethan's arm without permission. "You deserve strength at your side." Ethan felt nothing. No pull. No spark. No bond. Only irritation. "My father has been dead three days," he said coldly. "Show some respect." They withdrew — but not defeated. They wanted the Luna title. Not just the man. Alpha Hunter watched all of it silently. Diamond Sky Pack did not need a crown-hunter. It needed a true Luna.
