My mind keeps going over and over what he told me and I have to say, he's a very good actor. I honestly never would have guessed.
"We're actually on our way to the pack house if you want to join us," Beth offered. This girl, she's one of the most genuine people you will ever meet in your life, even though she can give off bipolar vibes, but that's just how she is.
"I don't think I would be welcome," David said, looking anxious.
"Of course you will. Once we explain to our guys the reason why you behaved the way that you have, I'm sure they will understand and accept you for who you are. But if you are coming with us, you need to make your decision now." I said, mentally crossing my fingers in the hopes that he would actually come with us. I had such a good feeling about this, and I'm not entirely sure why, but I'm going to go with my gut and see where it takes me.
"They can't tell anyone about me though. I'm not that out yet." David tried to make a joke of the situation and made a cute nervous giggle at the end of his sentence.
Grabbing his arm, we started towards the pack house. All arm in arm, like we've been girlfriends for years and not five minutes.
On the way there, we discovered we actually had quite a bit in common. Both David and myself have an addiction to shopping and David and Beth are ferociously protective of their friends. Those aspects in themselves don't seem to be that special but, to us, it was. If I could go back in time and tell myself that Beth and I would become friends with David, the ex octopus, the ex player and the ex womaniser, I would have laughed in my face and wondered how much I had had to drink.
We went through the doors of the pack house together, too engrossed in our gossipy conversation to really pay much attention to where we were going, until a pair of big, strong, unbelievably warm arms wrapped around my waist, leaving tingles in their wake.
"Mmmmm, I don't think I could ever go a day without your scent, my love. What took you so long?" Jacob said while burying his nose in the crook of my neck and gently squeezing my waist.
"Hey handsome, I missed you too." I turned around in his arms, so I could look him in the eyes. "We ran into someone on our way back."
Jacobs' eyes instantly found David. He let out a loud roar and grabbed David by the throat and pushed him up against a wall. He was holding him in the air with one hand and, in all honesty, I don't think I've ever seen Jacob look so murderous before.
"What are you doing here?!"
"Roxy said I could come back with her and Beth. I wanted to apologize to you all. I've already explained everything to Roxy and Beth. They've forgiven me for being such a douchebag."
"You better have a decent explanation for being here or, so help me, I will rip you limb from limb."
"Go easy Jacob, he really is a lot different to what we all actually thought of him."
"Besides that, he doesn't need to explain a thing," We all turned to find Nathan standing there in the doorway to the rec room. "Do you want to tell them David? Or should I?"
"What are you talking about?" Jacob asked through gritted teeth.
"He's my Mate," Nathan stated and moved towards David. "So you can put my man down now."
Jacob looked between Nathan and David and reluctantly released his hold on David.
Nathan grabbed Davids' hand and started to go towards the rec room. We all trailed after them, Beth's arm was still linked with mine as I held Jacobs' hand.
Entering the rec room was strange, there were people hanging out watching television, people munching on snacks and gossiping with each other, and Matt was standing at the pool table waiting for us with a confused look on his face. Beth went straight to him and kissed him on the cheek.
"Before you say anything, Davids our friend and Nathans Mate, so play nice." Beth said.
"Really? Since when?"
"Since about half an hour ago. He's actually quite a nice guy."
"Matt, I realize that its hard to accept, but we've forgiven him, so I really hope that you can too." I said. Don't get me wrong, it was really weird sticking up for a guy who was acting like such a sleaze, but he had his reasons, and I was determined to make my mate and our friends see him for who he is and not what he was portraying himself to be.
"OK, I'll give him a chance. But if you put one toe out of line, I'll kick your ass." Matt said.
"And then I'll kiss it better heehee." Nathan said while cuddling up to David, who was looking a lot more comfortable than when he had first joined us.
The guys set up the pool table and started playing while Beth and I just watched. We'd both attempted to play pool before, but it wasn't really a game for us. Besides, it gave us the perfect excuse to cheer our guys on and check them out all at the same time.
After a few games, Jacob decided it was time we all went to his office on the fourth floor, so we could start to plan our next move. I know that things are moving a little fast now, but I just wanted to find out what happened, and I really hate sitting around, trying to act normal.
