Chapter Eight Meikah didn’t bother looking for Rafe. As a vampire, he was more efficient at hiding than the assassins were. And she couldn’t find them when they were hiding amongst the shadows. Pulling herself onto the roof, Meikah started to creep through her window, removing her mask, surprised to find the wards hadn’t been set. She froze at a sound coming from the direction of her bed. She really needed to learn how to see in the dark. “Meikah? Is that you?” Meikah momentarily closed her eyes at hearing Breena’s voice. “Yes.” She finished climbing in the window, making her way over to the chest of drawers so she could light a candle.
