Meikah stared at the empty stairs. She hadn’t expected Amiel to give into Livia’s demands. “How do you get him to do what you ask?”
Livia chuckled. “Threats. And being willing to follow through on those threats.”
“Oh.” Meikah followed Livia up the stairs. “Aren’t you worried he’ll retaliate?”
“He can’t. Or at least he can’t hurt us. It’s part of the deal he made with Danton. He can only retaliate so far.” Livia grinned as she entered the kitchen. “And I made no promise not to hurt him.”
