Chase chose that moment to enter. His face broke into a charming smile as he saw me.
I stood from the bed to walk toward him, and at the same time, he walked toward me, his arms outstretched like he was about to… embrace me? That was strange. Chase had never tried to touch me inappropriately. He had never even tried to hold my hand in an intimate way.
But Raiden stepped in between us, growling possessively.
“Relax, Raiden.” I heard Chase’s easy-going voice. When I peeked from Raiden’s back, Chase had his hands up in surrender, and his charming smile was still in place. “I just wanted to greet your mate and ask how she’s doing.”
A silence ensued for a beat before Tina shrieked, “You are King Raiden’s mate?!”
I glared at Chase while seeing Raiden’s smug expressio
