I stared at my computer screen. The words might as well have been in ancient wolf script because my brain refused to cooperate.
Every time I tried to focus on the email in front of me, his voice intruded—deep, quiet, possessive.
Mine…
The sound of it still curled in my chest like a warm brand. Something between us had shifted. I could feel it in the way he looked at me last night, the way his touch lingered.
“There is no shift, Bella,” Lacy’s voice broke into my thoughts, all disapproval.
“There is,” I shot back automatically.
“What changed?” she asked.
I drummed my fingers on the keyboard. “He’s still gentle, but… it wasn’t the same. He didn’t hold back this time. Still not as intense as Raiden, but it was there. Like… a softer kind of dominance.”
