Chapter 28St. Emma's Revisited
Brother Gerontius walked towards the refectory and sighed a weary sigh as he watched two unmarked police cars pull up in the car park at the priory. Four officers exited the vehicles, including one new face; the others he recognised from previous visits.
“Back again, officers?” he asked rhetorically, as it was obvious that they were indeed back again.
“Brother Gerontius, I'm Detective Sergeant Church,” Fenella Church spoke first as DCs Dodds and Curtis climbed from the second car. “I believe you know everyone else.”
Sam Gable smiled inwardly at Church's authoritative forwardness. She'd clearly thrown the Prior a curve ball.
He hesitated slightly before replying. “Pleased to meet you DC Church. How can I help you officers today?”
