CORINNE Honestly, I hadn’t expected him to show up at all. He can be childish enough to use this as some sort of twisted leverage just to see me squirm. The plan for the night had been simple: blend into the crowd, smile and nod at three or four people, pretend I was endlessly busy running from one group to another, and then slip out before anyone could notice.
