Vicente I stretched my back and arms as much as I could under the early morning sun. We had been at sea for a week and I had spent every night sleeping outside of Ines’ room. She had suggested I sleep inside, at least in a chair but I could do no such thing. She was a young lady with an impeccable reputation; I would not dare ruin her honor by spending the night in the same room as her. It wasn’t that I feared I’d do something-of course not. My father had raised me to be a gentleman; I respected a woman no matter what they said, wore, or did. It didn’t matter if I desired Ines immensely, I’d never overstep boundaries.
