Feeling Funny

Scarlet I pushed him back with unexpected strength, and he let me go, a deep chuckle rumbling in my chest. I didn't wait for him to speak and just turned and left, trying to comprehend what the hell just happened. Why would I be mated to Caesar of all people? If I remember correctly, he becomes a tyrant who monopolizes the packs in his region. So why? Why him? My steps faltered as I glanced at him over my shoulder. He still stood on the balcony, watching me intently with a smug expression on his face. I whipped my head forward and continued walking, putting as much distance as I could between us. I snapped back to reality as I bumped into someone, feeling the chill of a cold liquid splash on my skin. “I'm so sorry!” it was a place maid, and they bowed a full ninety degrees, probably scared or offending a higher-up. I looked down at my dress, noting the stain, but it was nothing too serious. “Don’t worry about……” my words floated off my tongue as the maid raised her head, holding an apologetic expression. I blinked once, then twice. “Isabella?” It was really her, with the same blonde hair and innocent green eyes. But what was she doing in the palace? Wasn’t she a rogue wolf from another region? Isabella's brows pulled together in confusion. “Pardon?” It was then I realized my mistake. In this timeline, I hadn’t met Isabella yet, so there I shouldn’t know her name, nor would she recognize me. Shit. “Uhm carry on.” I urged her, deciding it was about time I left. I have had enough surprises for one night. I tossed and tuned in my bed, thinking about the revelations that unraveled at the ceremony. My wolf chose a mate, something I didn’t think was possible, or was it not mated to Jonan in the first place? I was meant to be reliving the past, but things began to change. And there was Isabella, who was a palace maid. But why then would Jonan introduce me as a rogue wolf? What was I missing here? My thoughts were disrupted by a knock on my door, and I pretended to be asleep, instinctively knowing it was Jonan. I had expected him to leave when didn’t answer, but instead, he entered the room and crept into my bed like a thief in the night. I tried to keep calm as he settled behind me, his hands resting on my hips and venturing lower. “Babe, are you asleep?” He whispered against my bare shoulder, his other hand teasing the strap of my night dress. My skin crawled as he pressed his hard erection against my ass, letting out a groan as he ground against me. Gosh, I wanted to toss him to the other end of the room, but I stayed still, hoping he would go away if I didn’t respond. “Scarlet….” He called, pulling me closer. “Come on babe my wolf needs you.” I tried not to scoff and blow my cover. I wasn’t even his mate, yet says things like this. I would rather die than let him sleep with me. When I still didn’t respond, Jonan paused, and I knew he was stewing in frustration. Soon I felt him hop off the bed, grumbling under his breath like a spot child as he left the room. He slammed the door shut, and when I was sure he was nowhere around me, I opened my eyes and laughed. Toying with him was so much fun. My laughter died down as I sat up, looking up at the night sky with the moon in full bloom. I raised the hand Caesar kissed up high, still feeling the softness of his lips on my skin. I felt nothing when Jonan touched me a few minutes ago, but the memory of Caesar's touch still plagued my mind, making me think of things I should not. Mate or not, he was still very dangerous. A ruthless Alpha without a sense of mercy. That was what people called him, but tonight, as he stared at the lone moon in the middle of the balcony, he looked tranquil, and his aura was calm and soothing. Or maybe that was the mate bond messing with my perception. With a long sigh, I flopped back on the bed and forced myself to sleep, tucking my thoughts away for the next day. The next morning, I woke up on hearing a commotion from outside. I stirred out of bed, hearing Jonna’s loud voice as he barked orders at the pack members. What was going on? I stepped out of my room, hailing at one of the pack members who rushed outside. They stopped and bowed. “Good morning Luna.” “What is the situation?” I asked, crossing my arms against my chest. The pack member kept their head down as they spoke. “An enemy attack Luna.” My eyes widened. “Enemy attack?” “Yes, Luna.” I quickly headed back to my room to grab my coat, fastening the buttons as I descended the flight of stairs. This was strange, I didn’t recall any enemy attacks happening around this time in the previous timeline. So what could be the cause of the ruckus? I finally arrived at the scene, which was the field in front of the pack house. The pack members cleared the way for me as I moved to the front, where Jonan stood with his back taut and jaw tight. But as I finally reached the source of the commotion, I was taken aback to see that it was not a pack attack, but just one man. And that man happened to be Caesar Quin. Standing in the center of his rival’s territory, Caesar took a nonchalant pose with his hands tucked in his pockets, leaning against his exotic car. His eyes lit up as I came up beside Jonan, a mischievous smile playing on his lips. “Leave here Alpha Caesar.” Jonan gritted out, retracting his claws as his wolf was on the verge of revealing itself. “Or you wouldn’t like what would happen to you.” Caesar ignored Jonan and turned to me, his expression telling me that he was here for me and nothing else. “Good morning my lady.” The pack members gasped at his audacity, and Jonan lunged at him, but Caesar easily evaded his punch, totally unfazed. Jonan growled and was about to attack again, but I stepped in front of him, giving him a stern look. “Let me take care of it.” I reasoned, but he shook his head. Jonan was strong in his own rights, but even he knew he couldn’t stand a chance against Caesar, and that was the main reason he hated him so much. “Scarlet no.” Jonan refused, pointing at Caesar with pure malice in his gaze. “I don’t trust this son of a bitch.” I sighed. “Just calm down. He came alone, meaning he didn’t come for a fight let’s hear him out.” Jonan regarded me in silence, then with a low grunt, he stepped back. Now I faced Caesar, my expression giving nothing away. “You’re right, I’m not here to fight.” He began, pulling out a seal from his pocket. It was the crest of the royal family, which meant he was here on official business. “The king has directed me and Scarlet to work on a private mission together.” “What mission?” Jonan snapped. Caesar tucked the crest back in his pocket. “Did you miss the word private in my statement Alpha Jonan? Or are you just slow?” Jonan turned red with anger, “Why you..” “Enough!” My voice cut through the argument, “If it’s an order from the king then I have no choice but to go.” Jonan looked like he wanted to protest, but I went into the pack house to change, returning in casual wear to accompany Caesar. “Let’s go.” “Ladies first.” He smirked, opening his car door for me. Once we left the pack house premises, I broke the silence. “So what does the mission entail?” Caesar chuckled, glancing at me with amusement brimming in his eyes. “There is no mission.” I whipped my head to him, dumbfounded. “What?” Caesar stopped the car abruptly, then in a swift movement that caught me off guard, he lifted me off my seat and made me straddle him, trapping my chin between his fingers. My breath caught in my throat, my cheeks exploding into red as his thumb brushed my bottom lip. “That was just an excuse….” He drawled, his gaze darkening with desire as he brought his thumb to his lips and licked it. “…To see my mate.”
