Shannon looked a little embarrassed, but she still explained in a good temper, "Harrison has assured me that Ms. Carter is a very capable doctor. Why don't we let her have a try? I believe in Harrison."

"Hmph, don't you know Harrison’s character? He's been punished by our third brother and doesn’t even dare to return to the country. Can the people he invited be reliable?"

Kaleigh was extremely rude and very hostile. Shannon was speechless for a moment, and the atmosphere became extremely awkward.

Kaleigh said disdainfully, "Even I am not 100% sure that I can save my father. How can you boast? As his daughter, I have to make sure that whoever treats my father is worthy of doing so!"

"Kaleigh, you–" Shannon's expression changed as she looked at Kaleigh unhappily. It wasn’t easy for Harrison to invite Leah. What if the doctor was provoked into leaving?

"Did I say something wrong? Since dad was sick, how many doctors have been invited by the Thomas family to treat him? All of them returned without success. Even well-known international doctors can't guarantee they can cure dad. I don't know where Harrison found this b*stard from. Is she qualified to treat my father?"

Leah's face completely darkened. If it weren't for the fact that she had been friends with Harrison for so many years, she would have already left.

It should be known that when she was abroad, even if someone offered a sky-high price, Leah still went depending on her mood.

Jackson smiled as he looked at Kaleigh. He wasn’t tall. His delicate face was fair and tender. He was so adorable that he melted the elders' hearts. However, his words were very sharp. "Aunt, you're so against my mommy. Are you afraid that she'll save Mr. George and steal your credit?"

Jackson chuckled. Kaleigh was Reed's younger sister. Based on her seniority, wasn't she then his aunt?

Jackson was a daring child. He had spoken Kaleigh’s exact thoughts, making her feel extremely awkward. Everyone present was smart and had long seen through what Kaleigh was thinking. However, they didn’t say it out loud due to their pride. Now that Jackson had exposed her, the others felt rather pleased.

The death of George wouldn’t benefit them at all.

Shannon hurried out to smooth things over. "Kaleigh, don't be so childish. Don't argue with a child. Let Ms. Carter have a go. Whether or not she can cure him, we should still let her try."

Leah ignored Kaleigh and went to the bedside to check on George’s condition. However, she was stopped by Kaleigh. "No! You can cure him if you want. But first, show me your qualifications. Which hospital did you work in? What major operations have you performed?"

At that moment, Leah saw red. "What are you trying to say? I’m here to treat a patient, so I have to beg you to do so? Fine, I won't serve you!"

Leah held Jackson's hand and was about to leave. Jackson stared intently at Kaleigh. While he wasn’t tall, his glance sent a chill down her spine.

"Ms. Carter, please wait. I apologize for Kaleigh’s ignorance. Please help my father-in-law!"

Leah, however, was too surprised to react.

"The Thomas family… Reed Thomas?!"

"Is this really his family?"

Thinking of the things that had happened between them, Leah became furious. Birds of a different feather don't flock together, but the way that Kaleigh and Reed slandered people was the same!

"What's going on?" Reed said in a low voice. He glanced at them, and they all lowered their heads and dared not breathe.

Shannon quickly explained the situation, "Harrison spent a lot of effort to invite the famous doctor, Ms. Carter over. Reed, please advise Kaleigh to not get in her way!"

Reed then fixed his gaze on Leah.

He was a little surprised. Recently, it seemed that they kept bumping into each other. However, he didn’t know whether it was an ill-fated relationship or not.

He wondered if she had any medical skills…

He knew Harrison's character. Although that fellow was often unreliable, he had a sense of propriety when it came to important matters. If Lead wasn’t capable, he would definitely have not invited her back to treat his father.

Reed noticed that the little kid, who was standing next to Leah, was looking at him in hostility.

The previous day, Thomas Co. was attacked by an unknown hacker again. The hacker paralyzed Thomas Co.’s whole system for ten minutes, causing a loss of at least eight digits, and left an unidentified warning.

The hacker's means were no less inferior to that of the leader of the Twist organization. After thinking for a while, Reed concluded that he hadn’t offended anyone recently. The only person who had a grudge against him was Leah.

If the other party really came on Leah’s behalf, then he had to re-evaluate his thoughts on Leah.

Leah turned around, crossed her arms, and looked at Reed unhappily. "Didn't you say that I'm evil and I have a bad personality? Aren't you afraid that I'll take revenge on you and hurt your father when I'm treating him?"

Reed replied, "A doctor is benevolent. I believe in Ms. Carter's professionalism."

Leah snorted. Although her face was cold, she had to agree with Reed's words in her heart.

From the day she began to study medicine, she vowed never to hurt people with her ability.

"Now you don't doubt my character anymore?"

In the face of her harsh tone, Reed wasn’t angry. Instead, he smiled and said, "I was reckless previously. If Ms. Carter can cure my father, I'm willing to apologize to you."

Leah waved her hand and said impatiently, "It's really awkward to call me Ms. Carter. You can call me Leah."

Standing by the side, Kaleigh stamped her feet indignantly. "Reed, you’re allowing this woman to treat dad's illness? I can't even cure him. How could she be capable?"

Jackson pouted. "Aunt, don't talk about yourself and my mommy like you’re both at the same level. The gap between you and her is beyond your imagination."

"You can't cure her, but it doesn't mean that my mommy can't cure her."

Reed glanced at Jackson in surprise. The little fellow was still young, but he was daring.

"That's right." He had never liked kids, but for some reason, he had a good impression of this little fellow. He reached out to touch Jackson's head, but the little boy dodged his hand agilely.
