Maisie’s Revenge

After they unpacked and settled, they decided to chill in their own rooms for a few hours. They all did not have much to unpack apart from their personal belongings like clothes, shoes, and toiletries. Alpha Matthew told them to just bring what they need or want because their new place is fully furnished and they can always buy what they require afterwards.

He decided to send a message to Alpha Matthew before he does anything else.

- Arrived safe and sound.-

-Good. - Alpha Matthew replied 2 minutes later.

He took his jeans off, put a game on the Xbox console then he took the tv and Xbox controller before he sat in the bed and played the game. He is still getting used to the quietness but at that moment, he is enjoying it.

He never expected to like their new place as much as he did but he did, he likes it very much. It was so different from what he was used to and maybe that’s the reason why he likes it. He always have lived in the pack house, the DarkMoon Manor, though he didn’t dislike it, he is just loving the change at the moment. The manor is always busy and buzzing with activity, though only ranked and wolves that hold position lives in in the pack house, everyone were always welcome so you are barely alone. Mac loves it but sometimes when you need a moment to yourself it’s very hard to come by.

DarkMoon Manor is always going to be home to him. Both his parents are the current lead warriors of their pack, they might not be high ranked but holding a position of lead warrior means that his parents are one of the strongest, best in tracking and highly skilled wolf in their pack and they both worked hard to earn their place. And as the son, or more like the only child of the lead warrior of the pack he is also well trained and highly skilled, he is one of the best pack warrior. In fact in a few years time he will be taking over his father’s position. The Alpha already approved it, and it is not because his parents are lead warriors, no, that position is not transferable. Not like the Alpha or Beta which is by blood. Being one of the best warrior comes from hard core training and honing one’s skills. It’s not saying that the high ranking wolves in there pack do not work hard because they do. He watched his best mate, Enzo, the future Alpha of their pack train as hard as he does, even harder actually. As future lead warrior, his focus was to protect the pack and the high ranking wolves and that involves combat training, shooting and whatever skills needed to protect the pack. But Enzo? He needs to train for everything, physically, mentally, and he also has to learn how to run the pack and the finances. That man went through so much and he is definitely is ready to take on his rule as an Alpha, but decided to wait hoping to find his Luna before taking on the job.

Just like Enzo’s father, McKenzie’s father is also ready to pass on the torch to him but he is not ready yet. Not because he wants to wait for his mate but because he doesn’t think becoming a lead warrior is what he wants to do. He is ready to become one, he knows how to become one, but, he is just not sure that he wants to become one. And that’s why when Maisie came to him asking if he could become one of her security detail when she attends university, he quickly jumped to the opportunity and said yes. Of course, his father was not thrilled that he said yes because he thought he was going to takeover soon, but as soon as his dad spoke to the Alpha he didn’t have a choice. This has been his way of getting his father off his back from the constant question of when he’s taking over his position and also gives McKenzie time to think of what he really wants to do. And also Maisie is like a younger sister to him and he would always want to protect her. And as the daughter of the Alpha and sister to his best friend, he has grown up protecting her just like Enzo always has been. At some point he did hope for her to become his mate, but when he turned 18 and turned out that she wasn’t, he wasn’t really disappointed. Maisie is a beautiful girl but he was not really attracted to her that way.

When Maisie came to him about becoming one of her security detail, she also told him the truth. Although, she made him promise not to tell anyone about it.

Maisie told him upfront about her plan to find who killed her mother. And that whoever will become her security detail, it has to be someone she could trust with her life and will be someone that will willingly be involve and will be able to help her. Honestly, he was not surprised at all about her plan. And he was grateful that she asked him.

Since the Luna died, life in the pack changed. Being only 10 at the time, people assumed that Maisie has moved on. But it was far from it. She might have been able to get back to her usual bubbly and carefree young self but she also develop a different personality. She became these young girl who was obsessed with training and was determined to learn every skills that she can. Black belt in martial arts at 12, a skilled sword master, archer, and marksman after that, and an excellent hunter and tracker. Maisie also has trained on how to become a Vampire hunter. Most of her training was done without the Alpha’s and the packs knowledge. Only few of her trusted friends knew, including her brother.

That’s the reason why McKenzie was not at all surprised when she told him. He and Enzo always expected this, they were actually waiting for it to happen and they have always kept an eye on Maisie. They knew it’s only a matter of time.

Fact is, it was not only because of the intense training that Maisie was doing that made them aware of her plan of revenge. They knew it because Maisie promised it in her mother’s funeral. Everyone who came heard but most of them would’ve thought that those words were spoken out of grief, but Enzo believed her and so did McKenzie. Her actions afterwards only became more of a confirmation of how serious that promise was, but only to those who are paying close attention to the young grieving girl.

And that’s really why he is here. Apart from getting away from his father and giving himself some more time to think things through, his main purpose is to protect his best friend’s sister, to protect his Alpha’s daughter, to protect a ranked member of the pack, to protect one of his family. And also, to help avenge the death of their Luna. Since saying yes to Maisie, this became his mission.

“McKenzie! McKenzie!” A loud, continues banging and shouting made McKenzie shoot up off the bed, making him fall off hitting his face on the floor.

“f**k!” He grunted in pain. He looked around confused as to where he is while holding his bruised face, before he ran to the door to open it.

“What? What’s happening?” He asked urgently as he walked out, almost knocking Alex down but he was quick enough to catch her. Looking around in the process to assess and look for danger. When he could not see any danger, he looked down at Alex which he was still holding.

“ What Is it Alex?” He asked with worry and still confused. At that same time Maisie came out of her room.

“ Ewww!” She screamed. “ Get a room people! My eyes!”She exaggeratedly said, while rubbing her eyes.

“ Gross, Maisie!” Alex also shouted as she pushed him away like some dirty thing.

McKenzie just stood there confused, the shouting and screaming from the girls are not helping. Then it hit him.

Maisie walked out to him holding Alex while he was only wearing his boxer shorts.

“ Hey! gutter brain! Stop screaming!” He shouted at Maisie.

“ And you?” He said looking at Alex. “ Someone better be getting murdered to justify the bruise on my beautiful face caused by your squawking and banging on my door.” He said annoyed while rubbing his still sore face.

“ The only person going to get murdered here is you!” Alex shouted. “ I was knocking and calling you for the last ten minutes. We agreed to leave at 5 to go out for dinner remember?”

“ Why? What time is it?” He asked looking around until his eyes landed on a wall clock answering his question. It was showing 5:15.

“ Oh s**t! Sorry girls. Give me 15 and I’ll be ready.” He said as he hurried back to his room, but before he closed the door he called Alex who was walking towards the sofa swearing at him. Maisie was leaning on her door just watching them.

“ Hey Alex! What’s with the cringing by the way?” He asked looking offended. “This delicious specimen is nothing to cringe about, sweetheart.” He said as he turned his back to them and mockingly smacked his own ass cheeks. Then he closed his door just in time, before Alex’s shoes landed on him. He heard Maisie laughing loudly as he made his way to the bathroom. He smiled. He does enjoy teasing Alex.

Twenty minutes later the three of them were walking out of the building.
