Maisie is standing in the balcony of their apartment having her morning coffee and enjoying the cold fresh air. It is February and it’s is still chilly everywhere in England. Being a werewolf, she does not feel the cold much but she could tell that it is definitely cold by how quickly her coffee has gone cold.
It is only 7:30 on a Monday morning but she is ready for the day. She has done her morning yoga and meditation and has showered and dressed for the day, she is still wearing her pink fluffy unicorn slippers though. She is wearing a black skinny jeans and a white polo shirt that is half tucked in. She is only wearing a simple watch and a necklace. No point getting all dressed up as she will be only spending most of her day attending her class at the university anyway.
This has been her routine since they got here. She does all her running and training for a few hours in the evening. Except of course when she is doing her actual tracking practice or when the three of them are going on a stake out for leads.
She decided to go inside to make another cup of coffee. She rinsed her cup and wiped it before getting her from the coffee machine. She took her cup and went and sat down on the sofa. She blew on her coffee and slowly took a sip. She’s just for waiting for Alex to come back from the gym located on the ground floor. Mac is also out for a morning run and is not due to comeback for another hour. She relish this moments of quietness where she can get lost in her thoughts and not be interrupted.
6 months ago, she realised that she was not ready to unleash her revenge to the whoever is responsible for her mum’s death. She’d likely failed or worse, killed…if she had insisted. It was quite a hard pill to swallow when everyone agreed that she was not ready, but she was smart enough to accept the truth. They were not stopping her at least, they know they can’t, Maisie knows that they’re just looking out for her and she had appreciated and was grateful for it.
The next day after they arrived, after the first day mishap, Mandy came over to their apartment. Maisie decided to put her brother on video call so they can all talk about what happened and what she wanted to do next. So from just her knowing and plotting about her revenge, there’s now 4 other people who knows and are demanding to be involved. Maisie never thought it would be like that but she was relieved that she can have other people on her side. They potentially saved her life because she was not at all prepared. She was grateful for their input and knowledge and experience she lacked. Maisie was just relieved to be not on her own and she felt like the heavy burden she had been carrying since her mother died was a little less heavy.
It was agreed that she will still attend school as planned but she will have to delay her revenge. She can continue to investigate but she must not engage or pursue anyone no matter what, especially if she has not informed anyone about it. Mac and Alex will be a constant shadow for her. She felt overwhelmed being constantly being with Alex and Mac when she goes out but she has to keep her end of the bargain she made with her dad. Plus they weren’t bad bodyguards. They all get along even though they always bicker with each other, it makes it fun for Maisie watching Mac and Alex.
The adjustment to her new life was not been too bad. Mac and Alex has managed to enrol on different courses in the same school as Maisie using Mandy’s connections. They thought it’s best for the two bodyguards to blend in as students rather than getting permission from the school if they can sit in in the same class as Maisie. Alpha Matthew was reluctant on leaving Maisie on her own on some classes that Alex and Mac can’t go to but Maisie managed to persuade him. They really didn’t want to draw too much attention to her. They know that many supernaturals will be attending the human university as well because it’s one of the best in the country for business studies.
Unfortunately, she has to rescind her application to the supernatural school as she had decided to just focus on one school. She is 16 after all, she didn’t want to get overwhelmed with studying and the additional training that Alex and Mac wanted to do with her. She thought it’s best to give it up. But when she called the school they asked her to maybe just consider deferring to the next term or the following school year instead of giving her placement up. She didn’t expect that at all, so she told them that if they are happy for her to defer then she would. She decided that instead of giving up, she can start next year instead when everything is more settled for her. She has a year to think about it and if she decided not to do it then she would just let them know.
The first day of school for Maisie was daunting. She was so anxious because it was her first time going to a human school. Their pack have its own smaller school that they’ve all attended so she never attended class with humans before. Mac and Alex were just chilled about it because they have attended a human university outside the pack. Even though they didn’t have to live outside the pack to study because it’s within drivable distance, they knew what to expect more than Maisie.
They reassured her and even offered if she wanted one of them to attend her first class but she declined. She didn’t want to always be relying on them just because she was anxious or scared.
The morning of their first day of school, they were picked up by Tommy and dropped them off at Wimbledon station which was next to the shopping centre they went to last time. They decided that taking the public transport will be more efficient and quicker, which Tommy agreed with base on his experience driving around the city for years. As long as they don’t stay out until dark then they should be alright. They took the train to get to central London and walked the rest of the way to the university. The school consisted of many old buildings, the impressive architectures was clearly built a hundred years ago, probably more. Maisie was mesmerised by the whole thing and couldn’t believe that she was definitely attending university.
As soon as they stepped inside the gate, the anxiety that plagued Maisie disappeared and was replaced with immeasurable excitement. The school was bustling and there were hundreds of students everywhere. And although she refused, Mac and Alex insisted on taking her to her first class, teasing her all the way there. They didn’t leave until she was inside and was seated.
The whole day was uneventful, and they only saw each other a few times including lunch break. Maisie did see Mac or Alex taking turns checking on her in different classes though. Maisie realised that she had at least a few supernaturals in most of her class. One class is even taught by a witch. Although no one approached anybody,Maisie knew they’re aware of each other. And even though she has masked her scent, she knows that they’d be able to tell the she is a werewolf.
After all her class was finished, the three of them met up outside the library before heading back to the train station again. Tommy was already waiting for them at the train station car park.
And that has been pretty much their weekday routine since then.
