Maisie’s Revenge

Reminiscing

As soon as she got back in her room after the gym, she jump straight in the shower. As soon as the warm water hit her skin she groaned in pleasure. As the water cascaded down her body,giving a much needed relief for her aching muscles. Running in that treadmill mindlessly might have caused pains and aches to her body but going through those memories has drained her mentally, and yet she couldn’t stop herself on reminiscing the life after her mum died.

The following months after her mother died was extremely torturous. After finding out that her mother was killed in a fire, by an enemy that none of werewolves assigned was unable to find, and had been declared by the human police as accidental. Knowing that your mother was murdered with the rest of her security and that no one can find the culprit made it worst. But, that was not it. Because her father lost her mate, the other half of his soul, he became almost feral. He had to be sedated for a long time because every time he comes out of sedation, his wolf Aldor always takes over and goes berserk. He was harming himself and because he is an Alpha, restraining him physically is dangerous and pointless.

Uncle Henry did not let them see there father, fearing that it it will just break them even more if they see the state he was in. He tried to take on most of the responsibilities of an Alpha but he also tried to involve Enzo as much as Enzo wants to. All the high rank stepped up to the plate and helped, especially with Maisie and Enzo.

She and Enzo lost there mother and their father is not there to help them cope. Though it’s not his fault and they understood, they rather have their father that way for now until he hopefully recovers or just lose him just like there mother. Their dad was not even at the honouring ceremony. It was a ritual that their pack do when a werewolf pass away. They normally burn the deceased at the ceremony, but the circumstances was different at this time. Most of the remains that was left in the fire was so little, but just enough to get the DNA to confirm there identities. She and Enzo and the family of their mother’s security detail collected personal items of their love ones, wrapped it up and that was what was used at the ceremony.

She kept having a breakdown during this time and months following the event, and time just went like a blur. She relied on Enzo so much while their father was still sedated and isolated. She followed Enzo everywhere, he also had a bed set up in her room because she would not sleep without her brother there. She was so afraid that he would be gone to.

She had to go though therapy just to be able to cope, and she eventually did.

Eventually, Maisie became more stable. With the therapy’s help and Enzo’s help and encouragement that if she is much better they’ll be able to go see their father. The love shown by family members and pack members also helped her a lot.

They managed to convince Uncle Henry to let them see their father with the help of the therapist as well. He was reluctant but the therapist assured him that it will help them. Just to see their father alive will help both kids to not feel abandoned. And so he eventually agreed.

Uncle Henry and the therapist went with them to the hospital. They were taken to an isolated part of the hospital, it was guarded. They went to a room with a glass top at the front, but Maisie couldn’t see inside because of her height, opposite of the room is a nurse’s station, 2 on duty nurse was present at that moment. They immediately stood up and greeted them. One of them opened the door with a security code to the room while the other explained that the Alpha is mildly sedated. They said they have been reducing his sedation slowly to see if he will be able to cope slowly. The nurse said they will have to increase the sedation if they plan on going inside. They have a remote control with them for the machine that controls it inside the room which is attached to their father. Enzo said no, he told them that he wants their father to be aware that they were there. It was met by protest by the nurse but Enzo pointed at the fact the they literally have control of the sedation so if something bad happen they can easily up it and that they are the Alpha’s children. He will not hurt them especially his wolf. Henry also was also reluctant but they could not really argue with the fact. So they were let in. The adults just watched from the outside.

They went in and Maisie was a bit shocked by the state of her father. He lost so much weight and has fresh bruises and some old ones in her arms and face. Theirs a drip attached to one of his arm that is secured to the bed and a tube in his mouth. They stepped inside and walked just by the end of the bed. Maisie and Enzo just stood there for a long time. They just watched their father, Enzo calmly held her as she cried. She had the urge to go and hug her father but Enzo held her in place and she did not insist. She knew that if she did, they will come in and take her away. So she calmed herself down and in a shaky voice started talking to her dad, Enzo joined with the one sided conversation.

Suddenly their dad’s eyes started to flicker and he started sniffing.

Outside the room, the nurses saw the movement too and was going to up the sedation but the therapist stopped them and asked them to wait.

Aldor recognised his pups and from that moment on, their father’s recovery started. Maisie and Enzo took turn to see their father but most of the time they were both there. After spending many months at the hospital he was able to go home.

When he got home, their father tried his best to be there for them and the pack. At first, he was hellbent on going after the people responsible for the death of his mate but the high ranking adults rallied around to dissuade him of that plan.

Since he was hospitalised and the Luna died, the packs finances became unstable. They were big decisions that only him or the Luna was authorised to do and because they were not there their business took a big hit. Thought the pack is still well off, it was not far from collapsing. Alpha Matthew is not big on delegating and that make things difficult as no one really knows what to do. He either goes and find his revenge and leave his pack to go bankrupt or be a responsible Alpha to his pack. They were already spending money for their own tracker to the investigation and not only that, Henry also hired some hunters and has put a big bounty to whoever can catch the Luna’s killer.

They also told him that his children needed him more than ever and going away and leaving them would be devastating for them, especially to Maisie.

The Alpha stayed and focused on his kids and pack. Since then their pack became richer and stronger. Though the Alpha was never the same again and still struggles with the loss of his mate, he tried his best to make his pack recover. He learned from his lesson and began delegating jobs to his capable pack members, it’s the main reason the pack businesses expanded and flourished. It didn’t take that long for her fathers to undo the damage to there finances, he’s always been a shrewd businessman man, his only flaw was that he only ever shared the responsibilities with the Luna.

When the Alpha was confident enough that they are now stable and that he has picked the right people for the jobs needed done, and his kids are now in a better state. He started to sometimes leave the pack, it started for a few days at a time and sometimes he would disappear to goddess only knows where, and a few times he was gone for weeks at a time. Maisie and Enzo got used to their father leaving once and awhile. Their dad let’s them know when he is leaving for a bit but he would not tell them where he goes. He also keeps in touch with them during his travels and would let them know if he can’t be contacted. It happens once in a while and then the frequency reduced greatly and then it stopped. They still don’t know where he’s been going, but the last time he was gone, he came back looking defeated. He locked himself in his room for an entire week and when he came out he acted like nothing happened.

And life has been alright. They all still had their ups and downs but they have mainly been doing okay. Sometimes a breakdown for Maisie which she hadn’t had for a long time. I guess the big decision she just made about going to London on the guise of attending school must have triggered it. Or just the thought of being in London is the trigger.
