Crushing Memories

CHAPTER TWO - CRUSHING MEMORIES

The thudding of her heavy footsteps can be heard throughout the gym. She was lucky enough that at that moment she was on her own as her mind drifted through the memories of that fateful night.

She has not been back to London since she was 10. Since her mother died. Her mum’s death was ruled by the human authorities as accidental but the whole pack knows that they were attacked by vampires with the help of a witch. As a Luna of the pack Maisie’s mother always traveled with a few bodyguards, they are the best warriors in the pack. A simple house fire would not have been enough to kill a werewolf let alone a powerful Luna at that.

Maisie still remembered the day her mum left to go to London quite clearly. She was begging her mother to take her with her that morning but her mum did not want her to miss school and said that she will be in a meeting all day anyway and will not be able to take her anywhere. Maisie told her that she can go out with one of the guards but her mum still said no. She has been so upset that she didn’t even say goodbye to her mum and just stomped and ran to her room.

Maisie and her mum always loved going to London. She likes going to the theatre, going to the Natural History museum, going around in a tour bus. Every time they go she always asked her parents to take her on a Duck tour. She just love looking at the building and the bridges and absolutely everything. Her dad and Enzo hated going, they said it’s to cramped and busy and loud and way too many vampires. They normally go there for the day and come back in the evening before the vampires wakes up, but when they do have to stay which is not often, they normally stay in one of the homes owned by the pack which is protected by a witches spell against vampires and they also have few warriors with them for security.

Her mum was supposed to come home that night but had to stay because there was a site issue with one of the properties they are trying to build for the pack so she called that she has to stay in one of the pack safe house in the city and was going to be back home Monday evening.

The higher rank wolves and head warriors were having a meeting that night in the Alpha’s office. All of a sudden their Alpha fell to the floor and was howling in pain. The Beta knew exactly what happened straight away, he has seen other werewolves lost there mates before and it always has been the same. Their Alpha, her father was in so much pain and went wild, almost feral. It took many warriors and tranquilizer gun to contain him. Many were seriously injured and were taken to the pack hospital. Other fighters were sent to find their Luna, they might have been too late but they have to know what happened.

The Beta contacted some pack members working in the Met Police and all the pack members staying in all the safe houses in and around London to go the safe house where the Luna was using at that time. He also sent some of the fighters to run in wolf form. And was met by someone just outside London with a car because they can’t risk being seen by human in there wolf form.

Everyone in the packhouse including her and Enzo were awaken by all the commotion and somehow they felt that there is something wrong, like something or someone is missing in their link. Not many people knew what it is at the time but the whole pack felt it. She went straight to her dad’s office, when she got there, Enzo was already outside watching what’s going inside.

“Enzo? What’s going on.?”She asked. Her brother’s body is blocking the door and she can’t see inside. Enzo turned around and held her on his arms and pushed her slightly so she can’t see what’s happening.

“Maisie go back to your room. I will come to you as soon. As I find out what’s going on. “Enzo said calmly but she can see and feel his panic. She can sense that her brother is worried . From all the shouting and growling and crashing inside her dad’s office she knows that its not good.

“No! Let me go Enzo...”she shouted while trying to push her brother away but he was stronger than her. So she started shouting more.

“Dad! Dad! Where are you? What’s going on?

Enzo let me go.” She screamed at her brother.

That’s when Uncle Henry, their Beta, came out of the room. She was mortified when she saw him. He looked like he was beaten up and his face was bloodied.

“Uncle Henry! What’s happening? Are you okay?Where’s dad?”

He looked at her with sorrow and despair in his eyes. He looked like he was about to cry and struggling to hold it together. He then looked at her brother and he put his hand on Enzo’s shoulder.

“Enzo, take your sister back to her room and stay with her. I know you want to know what is happening but for now you have to watch and be with your little sister...I will come to you when thing is settled”....He firmly said to Enzo.

“Yes sir!”Enzo said with determination. Henry went back to the office closing the door behind him. Enzo then started pushing her towards the stairs leading to her bedrooms.

“No! No! Please let me go! Enzo get off me....” she said fighting to get off from her brothers tight grip. Her strength is nothing compared to her brother’s. Her brother might only be 15 years old but with his alpha genes he already stood at almost 6 foot with wide shoulder and muscular body with all the physical training he has been doing, her 10 year old self is overpowered.

“Daddy! Daddy! “She was shouting hysterically. She was crying and screaming and fighting her brother off. Enzo might be strong but is still struggled to contain her because he was too worried that he might hurt her.

“Maisie calm down....” Enzo kept shouting at her...”it will be okay....”

“No, no, no, I want to see Daddy. Where’s my daddy...Daddy...daddy...”she was screaming desperately...when they got to the bottom of the stairs her brother tried to put her over his shoulder but somehow lost his hold on her and she used her small size to evade her brother and run back to her father’s office.

“Maisie come back here....Maisie!...”Enzo tried to keep up with her but she was faster. Maybe because of all the adrenaline coursing through her little body but she somehow made it to the office first. She opened the door and was shocked by what she saw. Her father is on the floor being held by a few warriors, some on top of him... she also saw 3 people in the corners holding tranquilizer gun including her uncle Henry, in different corners of the room, aiming at her dad but they couldn’t a good shot without risking shooting the other’s. Some warriors lay on the one corner unconscious or badly hurt.

The alpha was being held but still fighting off. He’s almost shifted and clearly his wolf is trying to fight over for control. His eyes is black and snout out growling. He looks feral but Maisie is not scared of him.

Before Maisie could properly register what’s happening she screamed and ran to his father.

“Get off my daddy!!! Get off....”she threw her little body on the floor to her father’s side before anyone can react to her.

“Maisie no!”Almost everyone shouted including her brother from the door....

She is now face to face with her father. His fathers wolf was snapping but couldn’t move his body because of the fighters holding him down.

“Daddy, daddy...”Maisie cried out looking at her father eyes...”Daddy stop”....in a pleading voice....”please stop....stop...” she begged as she touched his face.

His father’s wolf looked at her reacting to his pups scent and started sniffing her....”pup” he grumbled, his father’s black eyes went back to his normal blue and started to his shifting to his human form...Maisie cradled her father’s head.

“Maisie? “His father said with strained voice.... he didn’t seem to know what’s going on. Before she knew it someone tried to pull her away but she held on tight then she heard her brother’s voice asking her to let go. Then she felt her father stopped fighting and his head getting heavy. When she looked down at her father’s face, she saw that he is struggling to keep his eyes open.

“Erica....”his father whispered with tears in his eyes before he closed them.

“Daddy? Daddy?”She said shaking her fathers head in a panicked manner...

“Maisie it’s okay. Your dad will be fine now, he just need to rest now,” her uncle Henry said gently. She can still feel her brother holding onto her but not trying to pull her anymore.

She looked up and around. No one is holding on her dad anymore. The people that are hurt are being helped out of the office to be taken to the hospital. She looked at her father’s body and she can see some tranquilizer darts on him. With wide teary eyes she looked at her uncle Henry.

“It’s okay Honey, he will be fine. We have to do it to calm him down....”he came closer to them and kneeled down in front of her. He wiped the tears running down her face. She tried to avoid his gaze to look at his father again but he held her on the chin

“Maisie look at me....”he said softly....”Thank you for helping us calm your father down but now you have to go with your brother to your room and we will take your dad to the hospital, okay?”

“Can I come please?I want to be with daddy....”she said pleading.

“No honey, I promise I will make sure he’ll be okay, trust me. I will come to you as soon as everything is settled here....”

Henry looked at Enzo and nodded. She then felt being gently lifted from the floor in her brother’s arms and was taken to her room. She didn’t even fight anymore, she just closed her eyes and held on to Enzo. She doesn’t understand what is going on and still has unanswered questions but felt completely drained and achy from all the struggling earlier. She felt being gently lowered down to her bed and she snuggled on her pillow and she passed out. It is the middle of the night after all.

She didn’t know how long she has slept. When she woke up her room is still dark but she knows that it’s already daytime. She can tell by the brightness coming through the edge of her black out curtains, she glanced at the digital clock on the bedside table. It says Saturday 9 am....It is unusually quite, normally it will be busy around and in the pack house around this time.....

“Maisie, Maisie. Maisie are you okay?” She heard someone shouting. She was confused for a few seconds.

“Masie? Hey! Slow down!” Someone shouted again.

She can feel heartbeat thumping loudly. She was dripping and soaked in sweat, her lungs are burning and her muscles are screaming in pain. Her face is also full of tears and it was blinding her.

All of a sudden someone lifted her up and yanked her off the treadmill before she realise what was happening.

“Hey, it’s okay sis.” She heard her brother said. She looked around confused. She is sitting on her brother’s lap. And they were surrounded by a few pack members. She looked up at Enzo’s face, he looked worried and sad at the same time. She buried her face on her brother’s chest and continued to sob.

“Leave us.” Enzo ordered everyone out of the gym. Maisie continued to cry. Enzo stayed with her gently stroking her hair and rocking her back and forth.

She didn’t know how long they stayed there like that but when she calmed down she felt so tired and drained and was aching all over.

“Do you want to talk about it?” Enzo asked. She shook her head.

“Are you feeling much better?” Enzo asked softly as he looked at her face. She nodded.

“ Good,because I need you to get your fat ass off me soon. I can’t feel my ass cheeks, it’s gone numb.” He said playfully.

“Asshole!” She said as she smacked her older brother on the chest before she slowly got up.

Enzo chuckled before he got off the floor himself. He held both of her shoulder to make her face him. Maisie looked up to him.

“I’m alright Enz...” she said reassuring his brother. “ I think I just needed a good cry.” She laughed.

“In the gym?” Enzo said critically.

“Hey!” She said smacking him in the arm. “ Don’t judge my timing.”

“ I’m not judging you, you know that right? And you know I’m here for you, always.” He said with serious expression.

“ I know.” She smiled at him.

“Okay, good.” He said cheerfully. “Now let’s go. I think we’ve hogged the gym long enough.”

She laughed, Enzo wrapped his arm around her shoulder as they walked of the gym. Surprisingly they didn’t find any body waiting to use the gym but they can hear a lot of noise coming from the swimming pool. They probably got bored of waiting and went to the pool instead. Maisie was quite relieved with that.

They kept walking towards the main building of the DarkMoon Manor.

“ Enz...” she whispered while nudging him.

“Hmmm.” He murmured.

“ Do you think we can keep this little event from reaching dad?” She hesitantly asked. She knows that when it came to any concerns about her Enzo is always reluctant to keep it from her dad.

“As long as you promise me that you’re okay and that you come to me instead of bawling your eyes out in the gym then it’s done.”

“ I’m fine and I promise I won’t do it again.” She said as she rolled her eyes. Enzo laughed making her laugh to.

Trouble averted. She really didn’t want her dad to find out about what happened after she just asked him to let her go off to a school far from home. It won’t be good if he found out. Enzo knows about it to. Luckily, there was only few people that saw what happened and most of them are her brother’s friends so she knows her brother can do damage control. No one really wants to go against the future Alpha.

Her brother can act like a big goof sometimes but he takes his job as an older brother seriously just as much as being the future alpha.
