Maisie’s Revenge

A Familiar Face

Maisie followed the light coming from one of the door in the hallway. The room is a cozy living room, and there’s another door inside.She can hear that there’s a car running on the other side of that door so she headed towards that door, she opened it and found a black Audi with the engine running. Now she understood. This garage is attached to the garage where the taxi came in earlier. The window winded down on the drivers side where Mandy is sitting. When they made eye contact, she gestured for her to go sit at the back before she closed the window. The back seat is heavily tinted and even with her wolf vision she couldn’t see anything.

She opened the door of the car and found Mac sitting in the middle seat and Alex on the other side. They looked at each other but did not say anything. She sat next to Mac quietly and buckled her seatbelt. The garage door opened and the car started moving out of the garage.

The three of them found out that the back lead to another road. That means the townhouse are back to back and are separate properties, only they are attached to the sides and back. Very typical english residential housing.

As they traveled on the road, the three of them paid attention if they are being followed. No one really talked. There were only few cars on that road but as soon as they turned to the main road they got stuck on heavy traffic. They could hear Alex sighing in agitation. Alex hated being stuck on traffic and if it’s not because of the situation they’re in, she would have gotten of the car and walked. They passed the high street where the shopping Center is and it’s where the traffic was heaviest. 15 minutes later the car started going uphill towards the village where they came down earlier, the traffic has reduced greatly as they traveled and when Mandy took the road leading to the private compound is, the road was pretty empty. The gate opened as they approached and closed as there car passed. There were 2 security in the outpost, different ones this time and one of them is clearly a vampire. The vampire glanced as their car as they passed to probably check but then returned his attention back to the computer monitor.

“They have a Vampire security here?” Maisie asked, her tone laced with shock.

“ Honey, this compound is here to protect ranked or filthy rich supernaturals, not just wolves. That means this compound is targeted by different kind of supernaturals too. Every supernaturals has different sets of skills so hiring from all of them makes sense to maximise the level of security provided here.” Mandy answered nonchalantly.

Maisie’s shock even deepened but didn’t say anything. If it was true that her father was involved at all in this development, then she couldn’t believe that he would agree with things like this, or maybe she was just really unaware of what’s going on with his father’s or the pack’s businesses. She needs to find out more that’s for sure, and considering that she is going to be taking on business studies at school which starts next week, she really definitely have to know as much as she can.

Mandy pulled over to the gate of the DarkMoon building and drove inside as soon as it opened. They all noticed a man standing and watching the car just a few distance from the building’s main entrance.

“Wait, is that Dexter?” Mac asked.

“The one and only.” Mandy answered.

“Whoa!” Alex exclaimed. “ I’ve never seen him so….groomed.” Mac and Maisie mumbled in agreement making Mandy laughed as she parked the car. They are used to seeing Dexter with long hair and beard and he was always in jeans boots and plaid shirts and leather jackets. He now has a very short hair and well groomed beard. He was wearing a blue crisp shirt paired with a dark grey slacks and a black leather brogue shoes. He looked completely different to them.

“Well, you can’t really send the old Dexter in a boardroom or a business meeting, you know.” Mandy said while she turned the engine off.

Maisie jumped out of the car and run towards Dexter.

“Uncle Dexter!” She scream and jumped up to him and hugged him.

“Slow down girl!” He laughed as he caught her in his arms. Maisie almost knocked him down. “You’re not little anymore you know.”

“I missed you. How comes you never visit the pack anymore?” She asked him with a pout and an accusatory glare when she pulled away from the hug and giving him a slap on the shoulder.

“Hey, don’t blame me. Blame your father. Honestly, I think that man thinks that I don’t need a break.” Dexter said to her with humour.

“You could’ve fooled me! You love your job too much that you’d marry it if you didn’t find me.” Mandy scoffed as she interject from behind Maisie making Dexter laugh again. Maisie stepped next to Dexter to look at Mandy, while he put an arm on her shoulder as they stood side by side. Mandy walked towards them, looking at her mate lovingly.

“Hi babe.” She said sweetly.

“Hi.” Dexter replied with the same sweetness.

Maisie felt Dexter and his wolf react to their mate so she took a few steps away and watched. Dexter scooped his little human mate, burying his face on her neck, Mandy shivered with the contact and seconds later they are kissing passionately.

Maisie decided not to watch after that and diverted her sight to Mac and Alex who were getting the shopping bags from the boot of the car. After Mac closed the boot of the car they headed towards them but both stopped on there tracks when they saw Maisie standing awkwardly next to the kissing couple. Maisie shrugged her shoulder when they made eye contact with her.

“Alright lovebirds, enough already. You can eat each other’s face later.” Mac said loudly. Dexter gave Mac the dirty finger before the couple finally let go of each other. Mandy’s face was still a bit dazed from the kiss she just shared with her mate. She strangely looked different from the Mandy that was busting them like naughty children from earlier. Dexter held her close to keep her steady.

“What’s up bro, you finally found her huh.” Mac said to Dexter while they fist bumped and shook hands.

“Yes, finally! And she’s worth the wait.” Dexter replied to Mac proudly. “Just hang in there brother, you will find your mate too, when the time is right.” Dexter added making Mac’s smile bigger but did not say anything.

Dexter’s eyes diverted to Alex who was just standing and observing the interaction between the two men. Dexter smiled at Alex.

“ Hey little Lexie, how are you doing.” Dexter asked playfully. He let go of Mandy to walk towards Alex. He knows full well that Alex hated being called ‘Little Lexie’.

Alex grimaced. “Really?” Alex complained but walked towards Dexter’s waiting arms. They hugged briefly and Dexter kissed Alex’s head. He looked down at Alex.

“You’ve not really grown much have you?”Dexter continued with the cheeky insult. Alex could hear Maisie and Mac sniggering in the background.

“Seriously? You’re still going? I haven’t seen you in ages and first thing you do is give me an insult?”Alex asked with her brow raised.

“Hey it’s not an insult, just an observation.”Dexter taunted. Turning Mac and Maisie’s snigger into a full on laugh.

“That is it!” Alex shouted as she punched Dexter with full force on his right arm.

“Ahhhh!” Dexter shouted. “s**t, you might not have grown much but you definitely are much stronger.”He said as he dramatically rubbed his arms.

Alex aimed to punch him again but this time he managed to walk away fast towards his mate. And when Dexter looked back at Alex she had a very big smile.

“I bet that the Moon Goddess saw how much grief you gave me about my height that’s why she gave you a mate that is my height.”Alex said amused, giving Mandy a wink.

Dexter smiled at his mate. “I waited for her long enough that I’d love her in what ever package she came with.” He lovingly said to his mate, making Mandy flutter her eyes to him.

“Alright, alright.” Alex said with a cringe. “ Why does the Moon Goddess have to make mated couples so cheesy.”

Mac and Maisie were just smiling.
