The little boy was relentless in his howling, squirming all the while beneath Amy’s grip, trying to free himself. He knew what fate awaited them. I could see it in his eyes, so full of fear. She shook him vigorously. Either he would vomit or Amy would pull his hair out by the roots. Neither of those things happened though. He simply howled louder. “Shut up brat,” Amy hissed at the boy, “or I’ll slit your throat.” The howling continued. It was the only thing he could do. The only thing he had control over. Amy was livid. I heard her wish his voice away. The noise came to an abrupt stop. I could tell the little boy was still howling though, only now no sound issued from his mouth. Please, Amy.
