Brielle's POV :
“Doctor how is he ?”I ask , standing up and rushing to the doctor as soon as he comes out .
The doctor hands his gloves to the nurse behind him and sighs with a disappointed expression ,shaking his head slightly .“His head was hurt from the crash and the injury is serious . He hit the upper and most vulnerable side of his head and as a result he is in a coma.”
The knot in my stomach turns but instead of relief complete horror washes over me .
I was scared . I thought Daniel will turn out to be like that men from that night .
Dead and gone
Because thats how cruel Asher is .
I was begging to my ancestors to not be so cruel and give me one chance to make this right .
To let him live.
But is this how i wanted this to be ?
My eyes widen and i stumble back a little as i stare at him in disbelief .“C-coma ?”
Oh my god
How could this be?
How can he be in a coma ? He was fine a few hours ago. Just fine..so why..
He is the only family i have .
The doctor nods with a pitiful gaze and i feel like my heart is being squeezed out of my chest from pain .
Daniel…
It’s because of me .
“When…”I mutter , my voice coming out too low and chocked as i try to hold my tears back .“When will he wake up ?”
The doctor keeps silent and shakes his head again and it’s not in my control as a sob escapes my lips .
They walk away with a few encouraging words but i feel like my world has ended . After all, he was the only one in this world who was my own .
My family, my best friend and my love.
I push the door open and go inside .
In the middle of the room, on the bed Daniel is lying with his eyes closed .
His head is bandaged and stuck to many wires . Tubes are connected to his nose and mouth, making him seem so vulnerable and lifeless at the moment .
His usual playful and smiling face is so pale that it feels like he is almost gone .
I sit down beside the bed and grab his hand in my trembling ones carefully .
His hand is so cold..
Something finally breaks inside me as i watch the condition he is in and finally break down, trembling like a shaking leaf as tears roll down my face .
I cry like never before , mourning the price that night cost me .
I rest my forehead against his hand and feel utterly regretful for taking that route that night .
For deciding to check on the men that men .
For letting this happen to Daniel.
Why did this happen to us ?
We were the only one for each other in this world because neither of us have a family .
When i finally felt like i might have someone of my own , destiny slaps me like a b***h .
Were we too happy that day so i crossed path with that monster ?
“I am sorry danny, i am so sorry”I whisper, sobbing as i hold onto his hand with all my might .“I am sorry.”
If only i hadn’t crossed path with Asher, this wouldn’t have happened to you .
He wouldn’t have found you and he wouldn’t have come after you either .
If only i could turn the time back and stop you from joining the match yesterday .
If only..
“So heart touching . I should have brought popcorn .”Someone claps and i jerk up from my seat, standing up in alert only to see the person i least want to see at this moment .
“Aw you still crying ? I would have brought a tissue if i gave a f**k but sadly i don’t .”He say’s leaning against the doorframe with his hands crossed over his chest .
My heart trembles as i see him and unconsciously, my grip on Dan’s hand tightens nervously as if he can save me if this monster decides to pounce me .
He pushes off against the doorframe and stands straight before stepping in and closing the door behind him .
My heart skips a beat and i take a step back , feeling my heart thudding in fear .“What are you doing here ?”
His black hair is slightly wet and messy as they fall over his forehead . He walks to me and i feel my legs almost giving out with every step he takes .
No no no
Oh god, has he finally come to silence me for once and all ?
Is he going to kill us both here ?
“D-don’t come close! Don’t! This is a hospital if you dare do anything i will scream!”I hiss taking steps back and cornering myself without realising .
He doesn’t look impressed with my words as he back me against the wall silently and i flinch when he places his hands on both sides of me, caging me between him and the wall .
“You dare threaten me now ?”He asks with a cold and disdainful gaze that makes my heart skip a beat .
I look into his blood red eyes and feel my heart tremble and the back of my eyes burning with incoming tears .
I gulp and force my voice to come out steady. “You.”I say and point behind him at Daniel.“Did this to him . Even though i said i wont tell anyone ! You still went after him !”
“Where’s the proof ?”He asks without battling an eye and i pause frowning a bit .“What?”
He smirks and tittles his head to the side.“I said where’s the proof ?”
My lips part and my throat burns as i see the audacity and shamelessness of this person.“Do you have any idea what you have done? You tried to kill him! And you ask me if what proof i have ? Don’t you even feel guilty you monster?”
He rolls his eyes .“Blah f*****g blah . I didn’t try to kill him . It was an accident . Everyone saw it . You can go to the police if you don’t believe me .”
My chest feels stuffed with cotton as i feel a difficulty breathing .
Police ?
The police that he must have already brought with his money ?
There’s no one who can help me .
No one will go against the Asher’s not even the college .
But the arrogant look on his face makes me want to slap it off of his face so bad .
“Everyone saw yesterday’s match but they didn’t see the murder that happened in the downtown area a few days ago .”The words leave my lips before i can even realise and i freeze when i realise what i just said .
Instant regret hits me with fear for myself and Dan as i look at the monster in front of me .
His demeanour changes and a coldness fills the room . A predatory look appears in his eyes as he smirks without any emotion and leans down until i am pressed against the wall with nowhere to go .
“What did you just say ?”He asks in a chilling voice and my heart races in my chest as i gulp .“You heard it . I already said i wont tell anyone about this yet you went after Daniel . Why should i keep my words when you didn’t keep yours ?”
He chuckles coldly and glares at me, the smile disappearing as soon as it came .“Who do you think you are so make me give you my words ? You aren’t worthy . I let you go that night but did you take it as i am scared of you?”
I whimper as his face leans in until he is almost in my face .“The mouse should know when to be obedient otherwise it will get killed .”
A shudder goes through me as i look up at him , feeling on the edge .“Just what do you want ? What are you doing here ?”
He hums and pushes a strand of hair behind my ear .“Now we are talking . I will give you two options, you let a word of that night out and i will slice you and your boyfriend’s neck before hanging you two from the terrace .”
My heart skips a beat as i instantly shake my head in fear .“No! I wont! I promise i wont tell anyone anything . Please.”
He snickers lightly and pinches my jaw, titling my head upwards.“Or you become my pretend girlfriend and i will let you and your boyfriend off for now . I will even pay his hospital bills. “
He..what?
He leans close until he is against my ear and whispers.“But if i find out you went behind me to get justice for that men or your dear boyfriend, i will personality show you hell on earth .”
