I felt my arm lift and my hand embrace the side of the boat when I saw small speckled lights that indicated land that morning in the distance. It was still so dark. I have no idea where we are off the coast, but we are in high risk of Mexican patrols in the water spotting this ship before daylight. I looked around the deck. There was an old dirty plastic bag. I walked over to it and lifted it to the father’s view and then motioned towards my bag.   He looked at it and then at the distance the land was away from us. He lifted his brow and nodded.
