I stirred at a noise in Maria’s apartment that woke me.    “You had me worried.” Marcus said sitting at the edge of Maria’s guest room table.    Marcus’ was leaning back comfortably in that chair like he had been there for hours. His hands were crossed over one another in thought as he looked back at me in the bed. s**t Marcus, how do you always know where I am? I thought the whole thing had been a nightmare. But as I raised my hand to my temple in pain, I realized it was not. I was in Maria’s apartment, yes, but Marcus had brought me here after a complete slaughter at a fishing warehouse.    He was still wearing the loose black shirt and dark denim jeans I had seen him in earlier.
