Chapter Eleven

My mind instantly flashed back to New York. The sound of the bullets jolting me with every firing pin. The fear flooding through every morsel of my body and raising me to panic with the urgent need to hide.    Another shot sounded off in the distance. Whatever was happening it was outside. My first instinct is to go back into my room, lock the door, and hide under the bed. But I want to know what is going on and perilous curiosity is taking a higher position inside me.    I carefully open the door and peak beyond its protection. There is no one in sight.   A further shot marks the direction as coming from behind the mansion. There is no alarm going off anywhere. I try to contain my fear as I start my way down the morning lit corridor. I listen for voices but I don’t hear anything. I
