Exactly where we need to be

615 Words
Cole Ruby was all I could think about I knew she was pushing herself to far this far along in the pregnancy. That was the way my own wife and child had passed. I feared my sister would end up the same if we did not get her to see Clive soon. The babe was kicking her more and more these days. She may have fooled the rest of the crew but I knew she was in a lot of pain. The doctor had let me know the little bugger and broke my sisters rib. She had excused herself and gone below, I hoped she was exhausted enough to sleep. I think back and ever since we got news of Garet being swept away and not being found Ruby has closed herself off. She thinks to much and not of herself. I hate that she wont allow herself to mourn him, and that she refuses to sleep though i know she dreams of him... I just got to the shore when the men alerted me that they thought they saw people on the cliffs. I got ready since I knew we were in Heathen territory, I was ready for nearly anything as we had to walked up a narrow path to go up the cliffs. One of the boys that came with us to carry supplies let out a soft "Whoa". Looking up I too saw what the boy did a Ghost of sorts looking down at me. I felt there was no way my best friend as a child could be standing on the ledge staring down at me. Everyone knew that entire crew was lost at sea but this Heathens cold grey eyes were so similar to Queen Esme... I started to question my sanity. The man behind the ghost spoke up and asked what they were doing this far north. I knew it was no use to lie so I told him the truth My brother in law Garet had passed to the next world and My little sister was returning to his homelands to give the news to her husbands brother. Before I'm done explaining about the the ship needing a new mast and repairing the sail Clive came forward. "Cole is Captain Red with you?" Clive asked. Upon seeing Clive, I immediately bowed my head to show respects to my brother in laws brother. "Shes on the ship. The Storm was hard on her she needed to rest so she is due at anytime.... I apologize for giving you the sad news, it was Ruby's to give. Clive brushed it off he knew I hadn't seen him since he was in the back of the group, and he was struck by the fact his brother had left this world. Then the realization of what Clive heard sunk in. "Due? Like my brother gave her a child? Why the hell did you let the woman travel the oceans during storm season?!" He asked exasperated. I simply gave him a look and Clive laughed hard. He knew how hardheaded that little red head could be. Sighing he turned to his chief and asked if they may be treated well and if one of their own woman could check on Captain Red. Roland gave the permission and asked that when she is ready he too can meet this Captain Red. After some time I was able to return to the ship to find my sister awake she was still in her cabin and I could see she had rested a bit but she was still pale. Softly I reported that Clive was here, and that he and the chief wanted to see her.
