The Pirate Queen had called for me, so I was walking as quickly as my little feet could carry me. Something must have happened i thought as i was never called to see Queen Esmeralda. I was rounding the corner to the Queens chambers when I tripped over a rug and started to fall. Suddenly I was taken into my brother Cole's arms. "Careful lil one." He whispers softly as he sets me back on to my feet. Smiling I whisper thanks then slow to a walk as I start to approach the queens guards. I stop then i drop my head and wait with respect till i am told to go inside. Upon entering Queen Esme calls me to come over and sit down. I feel dread start to rise in the pit of her stomach. As I sit and turn towards my Queen i hear her whisper softly my son Collin and his crew are all gone... Posiden took them. I try to blink back these tears what i really got told was i not only lost Collin my protector and love, but for my father as well, he was Collins first mate.

"Ruby Jane, it is time you move here and start your training." The Queens said as her dark grey eyes watched as the young woman drew her shoulders back and dried her tears. "Yes Ma'am.:" I whispered trying to be more an adult than a wayward girl that very moment. I had been on the ships with both father and brother, but they always tried to keep me below deck. I didn't know what was about to happen but I knew this was no time to show the queen my fear. Only cowards showed fear. Slowly I looked up into Queen Esme's eyes and suddenly decided she would learn anything and everything thrown her way. Life wasn't guaranteed and a pirates life was a hard one at times. By the time I exited the Queens chambers I was told she was to learn sword play and reading and writing. Ruby was more worried about learning to read and write tha was learning to defend myself in combat.

Looking over at Cole i instantly saw his sorrow. Quietly I walked over to him and hugged him tightly. He was a six and a half foot giant compared to my five foot self. As i wrapped her arms around his waist Cole carefully dropped in front of me and held in a tight hug as we both grieved. My Long red hair was unruly as it tumbled down my back, Cole gently tried to smooth it as he stood and we both composed ourselves. I quickly told him what the queens wishes were then I turned and quickly hurried to there small cabin to pack for bother and myself so we can start the next step of our lives....
