CHAPTER 13A

730 Words
CHAPTER 13 “Think about your most traumatic event.  It can be recent or it can be long ago.  Let’s begin at a point that you’re comfortable with.  Please, take your time.” The seconds ticked away audibly, almost deafening to the impatient person.  Then again, anyone would be driven mad by the passage of time in this setting of 2.  To deny that there were no maddening elements to those who were in the presence of such a situation would be equivalent to the denial of the fundamental truths we are well acquainted with, the rogue’s mission to simply pervert such a truth. “There was a time when I could recall the face of the one who attacked me, the home where I was raised becoming a prison rather than a sanctuary.  There were so many people that came through the doors in such a short time.  I thought it was always a place I felt safe but there were simply some things that were ignored.  I was...I…”  He was accessing the deepest archives of memory in an attempt to resurrect the main issue that plagued his mind.  It was sad to see such a man who was brave in such a timid estate, but everyone had their past traumas that shaped their overall psyche.  Nothing was more sacred than life, or so they would say.   “Yes, continue.”  Sergey was his personal cheerleader from this moment forward, the information provided used for ill purposes. “My sister was forced to do something at a young age.  It was beyond evil and I don’t know why I thought it was normal!”  He thought back on the event and Sergey awaited the recollection. “Early in 1985...I’m not sure of the exact month...things began to register with me as evil that I had ignored.  I mean, I had thought my father could do nothing wrong, as every child likes to think.  We idolize our parents and to think they would teach us the wrong side of right/wrong is incomprehensible to us.” “How old were you?”  Sergey began to scribble notes from this point forward.   “I was only 7.  It was such a great time in my life and we were a close family.  Things were completely...just...amazing.” ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- “What did you want to be when you grew up?”  His father had asked as they drove along the country road on a clear spring day. “I haven’t thought about it, but I probably will think about it later.” “There’s no time like the present to decide your path in life.  Your sister has already changed her career 7 times.”  Checking his mirrors as though he were slightly paranoid, he began to slow the vehicle to a stop.  They sat for a moment and were instructed out of the car.  It was a family of 4--father, son, mother and daughter.  This family was a normal family on the surface but were different once alone. “What’s going on?”   That was the million dollar question he could have asked his father.  That was what anyone had ever wanted to know in life.  It was essential for peace of mind with those 3 simple words that put uncertainty at ease as well as reassured that all was known from the start.  It was essential for a child to know. “We’re about to show you the family secret.”  His sister smiled as she had relayed this with no emotion.  It was almost as though she were programmed.  “It’ll be fun, you’ll see.”  She did manage to flash a smile that was creepy in nature, the very expression always unsettling as far back as he could remember. “The family secret?” “Yes, you’re old enough to know.”  She giggled slightly at this and his mother simply stroked the girl’s hair.   Wasting no further time, they stood at the mouth of a cave.  Soon, they were inside, the father being the last one to enter, ensuring that they had all entered the cave and that no one had followed.  Satisfied after a final look, they were enclosed soon.
