Lindsey got home before silence to herself. Her housemate Presh, was a Jamaican. She had been in America longer than Lindsey could remember. She had been so open hearted and nice to Lindsey when she first got to America. Just remembering Nigeria made Lindsey remember what happened at work. It hurt her to know racism was still so rampant in America. She had some situations where she knew she was being discriminated against, but she just didn't want to acknowledge it. When Sarah called her burnt, it had hurt her a lot, but Lindsey just didn't want to feel defeated or give Sarah the pleasure of winning her. That was why she tried overlooking the whole situation. As she heard her apartment door open, she quickly wiped her hand on her and walked out to meet her friend. "Hey roomie", Lindsey said "Hey girl. Looking good. D' you hit the jackpot?" "Working at EVON is the biggest jackpot you can ever hit," Lindsey said grinning. Presh tossed the bag of groceries at Lindsey and she caught it. When she checked the bag. She saw different thing which were for... "No way! I'm not doing it," Lindsey immediately realized her friend was trying to make her prepare a Nigerian dish. Presh pouted. " Pretty please! Do you know how expensive these things are in Afri-Market. You can't just waste." Lindsey sighed," I will but I need to rest first. It is a tasking job you know?" "Alright." Lindsey remembered the 'Sarah' incidence and realized that Presh might be able to help her. After all she had been in America since forever "Wait....." "Yeah?" Presh turned around and said " I met this..." "Guy?" Presh asked already anticipating the impossible " Yes but...." "Are you finally ready to get married? You know your getting old," Presh joked. " I met over ten guys today, sis. Besides you should be the one discussing marriage not me" Lindsey said and laughed. " At least I'm better than you." "That's not the point here. I'm going to be working with a racist for as long as I work in EVON," Lindsey said That took the smile away from Presh's face. "What?"  "She was so straightforward with it. Others will try to hide it, but she said it to my face. She called me burnt. That was not enough. She kept looking at me throughout the day. If looks could kill I'd be dead by now," Lindsey said trying to make the light of it although she knew Presh never took such things lightly " I need to see the person." "There's no need. I just decided to tell you so you can give advice you have in your cup, " Lindsey said Presh snorted and finally smiled, "What makes you think I'm a victim of racial discrimination?" "Funny question you've got there. I can see you're not ready to help me " she turned to walk away "There is one way," Presh said. Lindsey turned and grinned, "I'm all ears" They try to take away our freedom so you try to take away something very important to them." Presh said simply "What if I don't know? "Ask around. What's her name?" Presh asked " Sarah Evon," Lindsey said simply and laughed when Presh widened her eyes. "Evon as in Mary Evon? "Yeah That was the same way I reacted when I heard that Mary is her big sister. That's the main reason I'm trying to avoid her but she just kept making me feel weird." "Then you get someone to watch your back. Someone who's also top in business." Presh said, thinking "I know someone, but no. He's like way out of my league. He showed me to my office, but I later learnt about him and..." Lindsey said "What makes him out of your league?" "Presh. he drives a Bentley! He's like next to Mary!" Lindsey screamed  "Something is definitely wrong with you. Because you don't drive a Bentley and he does doesn't make him better than you," Presh was getting annoyed "Let's be realistic here. Like in computer where there's digital divide, there's definitely a divide between the rich and...me" Presh sighed. "Girl, you can only try." "I still don't believe this can work." Lindsey said "I do. Just be you. Everybody likes you," Presh said and smiled. "You sure?" "Very sure. You're nice, pretty, jovial. Just mention it. We just have to get you a new wardrobe," Fresh said. Lindsey gasped gasped. "There's absolutely nothing wrong with my dressing," " Blah blah blah. You need and upgrade, but until then, we'll fit you into some of my clothes," Presh said. There was no doubt that Presh was the fashion yes. She knew all there was to know about fashion, but Lindsey was that 'anything that goes' kind of girl. There's no way I'm wearing any of your clothes. They'll be damn too tight, You're like a whole size smaller than me." said "Fine. Suit yourself. You can continue to wear your clothes until we go shopping during the weekend." "Great," Lindsey smiled. Suddenly, the idea seemed so appealing .Lindsey was ready to do anything just to avoid racial discrimination. Her parents had sent her to Seattle because they believed that it was one of the places free of racism in America. Nobody was going to send her away
