Chapter 2: Another day in Town

Charlie awoke to the sound of Their caretaker Jessica calling their name. "Charlie, darling child, it's time for school! Wake up!" Charlie had a little trouble waking up and fell off their bed trying to get up. They did manage to get up,though.
They got dressed in their schedule uniform which was a green and yellow striped long sleeve shirt with dark blue jeans. Charlie was a nonbinary human with brown hair and soft yellow-brown eyes with light caramel skin. They decided to wear the red boots today.
They walked into the kitchen where they saw their caretaker, Jessica. They sat down at the dining table, and listened as Jessica spoke while making pancakes.
"Charlie, you were crying in your sleep again." She sounded worried as she said this. Charlie felt as though this being a normal occasion was not good. Jessica finished with the pancakes and served them up.
After Charlie ate, they went and walked to school. on their way, They got to talk to Serif, the guy who ran the grocery store. "Heya, kiddo, how are ya?" he asked, noticing the look on Charlie's face that showed worry and confusion. Charlie gave a small smile. Serif always seemed to be very kind to them. Serif was Jessica's boyfriend and possibly soon to be husband. "Well, I'll get outta your way, kid. Have a good day at school today, ok?" he was like a father figure to them. He also taught them how to make puns when they were seven. Now, ten years later, they annoy their friends with puns.
They then made it to school and walked into class, and went to sit next to Lily, their best friend. Lily was a beautiful ginger with light skin and green eyes, who wore a pink sweater with a green skirt. Everytime Charlie was around her, they felt something different, like a joy that they hadn't felt since they were with their family. Was it love? Maybe. All they knew was that they felt a fluttery feeling, like butterflies in their stomach.
Then the teacher, Mr.Cayne, walked in. "Good morning class, as you know, the angel was killed by a demon. What we don't know was who it was. was it Brinda, or another demonical being?" He began teaching class. He went to grab chalk and saw it was missing. "Oh, goodness. Um, hey, Jack? do you think you could go to the supply closet and grab some chalk? bring a fellow student if you want."
Then, a scary looking kid with dark bags under their eyes. Jack wore a green sweater with camo pants and his hair was in a medium length ponytail. He chose Charlie to go with him. Charlie and Jack walked out of the class and went to the supply closet. Then, Lily came running towards them. "Hey, uh, he said nevermind, y'know." she said.
Jack walked back to class, but Charlie and Lily stood there, until Lily spoke. "So, um, there's a new restaurant in town over by Serif's shop, and I was wondering if you would like to go there with me?" Charlie's eyes widened, and they felt happy. They may not have expected that to happen, but they shook their head yes. "Great. See you there! " then she ran back to school.
[TIME SKIP BECAUSE IM LAZY]
After class, Charlie texted Lily, asking when the date would be.After sending the message, they felt embarrassed for calling it a date. However, Lily replied with "Wednesday, 3pm, Right after school. I hope you can make it?" Charlie texted Lily that They could make it. it was Friday, so they had time to prepare for the date.
