Abaddon's eyes snapped open, the remnants of a restless sleep dissipating. His hand instinctively reached for Aurelia, but all he found was the cold emptiness of the bed. Confusion gave way to panic as he realized she was gone. A surge of adrenaline shot through him, dispelling the remnants of sleep. He shot up, scanning the room frantically.
