Service to humanity

Listra is one who is not only imaginative but filled with kindness. Her nature has it that she can’t bear to see anyone suffer or in pain. This is why she is loved by everyone who comes across her. One of her philanthropic duties is to see she goes to clean the house of a widow that is living beside them every morning. Not only that, even though she doesn’t have much , she gives the widow a little sum out of her sales during market days.

One day as she was returning from the market, she met an old woman who was trying to raise a load on her head inorder to sell it at the market. Listra was also carrying heavy things filled with plantains cut from its bunch the previous day, snails and cracked kernel seed. She asked the woman to leave her load so that she can join them together with hers, as she did so she asked the woman to follow her so they can quickly get to the market arena in order to find space where they can sell before other people starts arriving. The woman whose name was Linda was astonished seeing a young beautiful lady who should be wary to stain themselves or do difficult task;stoop so humble as to help her. She started blessing her. Until they got to the market, Linda couldn’t take her eyes off listra. She told her anyone who marries her in future would be so lucky.

During the festive season like Christmas, listra hates seeing any chicken killed in her presence as she would cry alongside with it. That is to show you the extent to which her heart can bear things. Her friend Ela has mocked her for having such a tender heart. Whenever their school is having any theatre function or watching cinema movies, listra hates sad endings. One would see her sobbing at a corner just because the characters in the movies are going through pains. These purgation of emotions are just who she is naturally. She has tried curtailing those outburst but to no avail.

Listra loves visiting the motherless baby home a lot. Especially on her birthdays. She would select those clothes she thinks are so tight on her , her shoes and sandals and would gift them out to those kids. She derives so much joy just to see they are all happy. At a point she had envisioned herself having her own family and kids.

But with the way society is, having so many bad eggs everywhere, would listra continue being the good innocent lady, or would life completely change her?. As she mourned her mother’s death that morning, she was lost in her thoughts. Now she no longer have anyone that motivates her to build a bright future. She wanted so much for her mum. Having suffered a lot since the death of their father. She worked so bad just to see her mother is not stressed out. Yet just with the little cold she contracted, she couldn’t fight death. Listra no longer has the voice to cry instead she sat listening to the wailings of people who came to give their condolence.’some in pretence, while some with sincerity.
