Chapter 9 Lillian had been in Los Angeles for five days, and she was already hating it. The traffic alone was enough to make her want to pull her hair out. San Francisco wasn’t perfect by any means, but it didn’t take her an hour to get across town. She couldn’t wait to see this town in her rearview mirror. The prank calls had kept coming, too. She received several a day now. She kept blocking the numbers, but a new number would call every time she blocked the old one. A few texts had come through with photos of her old house. When she woke up after the night of texting with Garrett, she had felt rested for the first time in weeks. That restfulness ended when she saw a picture text of her uncle’s old house.
