Valerie's POV
I was running through the dark forest, ignoring the thorns tearing at my flesh and the stones I was stumbling upon. My whole body was in pain, but I knew that I had to escape. I had to get away from her.
Her footsteps drew closer. She wasn't running, but she was catching up, but I did not allow myself turn back to see how she was doing it.
Laughter echoed behind me, sending shivers of terror down my spine, and then I heard her voice, sweet but malicious.
"You think you can run from me, little sister? You have lost everything, and you have no one to protect you." She laughed even louder, the forest leaves shaking from the intensity.
I had lost everything. My pack, my family, my mate.
