When vicious dogs bark wildly, one must first seek out their master.
"Birds of a feather flock together. Though I must confess, I find it baffling. I can understand the dog being blind, but how can the master be blind too? Is blindness contagious now?"
"You... who do you call a dog?!" Lisa roared, her fury boiling over.
"Whoever answers is the one. And you three little puppies, if you want to defend your master, grow some brains---oh wait, you should cure your blindness first."
"You---" Lisa's rage boiled over, and she raised her glass to hurl it at Ella.
Ella didn't flinch. She merely looked at Lisa with amusement and continued her taunt:
"What? Still want to hit me? See this badge? Do you even know what it means? If you don't, crawl back and ask your master. What happens to puppies like you when you mess with someone who wears this badge?"
"..."
Why don't you crawl back to your master? Your only job is to lick her boots clean. Oh, and I heard your mistress got poisoned. Rumor is it left her… unfit for a man’s company. So she bred you three little bitches to be her full-time lickspittles, is that it? Ha
Ella laughed unrestrainedly.
Hearing Ella's final remark, Selena could no longer sit still. Her face grew as cold as if frost had settled upon it. She couldn't possibly miss the hidden meaning in those words.
Worst of all, the remark struck at her deepest wound. The poisoning incident five years ago was no longer a secret.
The consequences of that poisoning had become the subject of gossip among the noble circles.
Of course, anyone with any sense would never dare mention it in Selena's presence.
Selena’s face flushed, then paled with a fury that made her hands tremble. In all her life, had she ever endured such blatant humiliation? And from a shabby woman, she utterly despised!
"Hmph! So what if it's the Hain family? Those three useless fools dare not touch you, but my Silver Moon Royal Family certainly isn't afraid of your Hain family."
Rage boiled within Selena, her eyes filled with venomous hatred. The impulse surging inside her could no longer be contained.
She abruptly stood up, clutching her wine glass as she strode toward Ella.
"You vicious little—!" Selena’s composure was shattered. Before anyone could react, she hurled the entire contents of her wine glass at Ella.
Ella hadn't expected Selena to actually attack her in public. Caught off guard, though she twisted her body to dodge and raised her arm to block, she still ended up drenched in red wine.
"Splash—!"
The deep crimson liquid instantly soaked through the cotton fabric. Wine splashed across her chest and arms, spreading instant, vivid stains down her skirt.
Not only her clothes, but even Ella's hair was drenched by the splashing wine. Strands of wet hair clung to her cheeks, making her look utterly disheveled.
At this sight, a wave of gasps erupted throughout the venue, drawing even more focused stares.
Serena watched Ella's instantly "stained" and flustered appearance, a smug smile curling her lips. A surge of vengeful satisfaction washed over her, lifting her spirits considerably.
However, her satisfaction lasted less than two seconds before Ella's counterattack arrived.
Without hesitation, Ella grabbed the wine decanter on her table—not just a splash of wine inside, but an entire bottle.
Then, as Selena's eyes widened in horror and everyone gasped in shock...
Ella swung her arm, emptying the entire decanter of wine onto Selena—drenching her from head to toe!
"Aaaah---!!!" Selena let out a piercing scream and instinctively stumbled backward.
But it wasn't over yet. Ella grabbed a handful of ice cubes from the ice bucket on the table, took a few quick steps to catch up to Selena, and reached for the neckline of her evening gown.
It must be said, Selena's bust was quite impressive. And precisely because of that, her neckline had ample space.
Ella ruthlessly shoved the entire handful of ice cubes into Selena's neckline.
A bone-chilling cold instantly swept through her entire body.
Serena instinctively tried to pull away, but the ice was trapped inside her dress. Designed to accentuate her figure, the evening gown clung tightly to her body.
So once the ice entered her clothing, it maintained constant, "intimate" contact with Serena's skin.
"That was payback. This is a bonus gift," Ella retorted without mercy.
After speaking, Ella promptly stepped back, maintaining a safe distance from Selena.
But Selena couldn't spare a thought for Ella at that moment. All she wanted was to dig every last piece of that damn ice out of her clothes.
She didn't even notice her pure white gown had turned nearly burgundy.
Though both had been splashed with wine, Selena appeared far more disheveled—soaked from head to toe.
What should have been an elegant dinner had devolved into a full-blown brawl.
The ballroom fell deathly silent, a pin dropping being audible. Everyone was stunned by this shocking display of mutual dousing.
With the help of three women, Selena finally managed to pull the ice cubes from her dress.
Whether from the force of removing the ice or not, several tears had ripped through her fabric. The once-perfect gown now lay in disarray, seemingly beyond salvage.
"I'll kill you!" Selena screamed, nearly losing her mind.
"Stop, Now!"
Suddenly, a commanding voice cut through the air, halting the escalating confrontation in its tracks.
Several individuals dressed uniformly in black formal attire and bearing the United Council insignia strode over. Leading them was a stern-faced elder with graying hair, evidently one of the evening's event organizers.
The elder glanced at Ella, drenched in wine stains, then at Selena, soaked through and looking utterly bedraggled, his brow furrowing deeply.
"Ladies, this is a charity banquet, not the streets!" he declared sternly. "Cease this unbecoming behavior immediately!"
Ella shrugged indifferently.
"I've got no problem with it. It's more about her. After all, I didn't start this. She was the one who threw the first punch. Sir, I suggest you have a serious talk with this Silvermoon Princess. She needs to rein in that temper, or she'll never find a husband."
"You!"
"Your Highness, if you persist in this nonsense, I will contact your father, His Majesty the Silvermoon Wolf King, immediately. He will have a word with you."
"Hmph, I won't lower myself to argue with someone like her."
Seeing both parties agree to cease the disturbance, the elder continued his suggestion:
"Your current attire is unsuitable for remaining in the banquet hall. We will prepare replacement formal wear for you both. Please follow the staff to the changing room to address this matter. We hope you will calm down and refrain from any further actions that might disrupt the banquet atmosphere."
The organizers had formally intervened. Continuing the disturbance would benefit no one.
Serena shot Ella a fierce glare, suppressing her inner rage, and followed a female attendant away.
Ella, however, gave the elder a polite nod before following another female attendant toward the changing rooms.
The commotion subsided temporarily, but the buzz in the banquet hall now boiled over like water at a rolling boil, impossible to contain.
Everyone discussed the shocking scene that had just unfolded, speculating about what would follow, their eyes darting toward the changing room....
