Loving Someone Deeply
Months passed, and their love became something that touched every part of their lives. Serena noticed that mornings felt softer when Adrian’s name appeared on her phone screen. Adrian noticed that he smiled more often now, even on terrible days. Their friends joked that they acted like people inside old romance movies because of the way they looked at each other when the other person wasn’t paying attention. But what made their relationship special wasn’t grand gestures or dramatic moments. It was the small things. It was Adrian waiting outside Serena’s workplace just so they could walk home together. It was Serena memorizing how Adrian liked his coffee before he even had to ask. It was the way they instinctively reached for each other’s hands in crowded places. One night, while lying beside each other beneath a sky full of stars during a weekend trip outside the city, Serena quietly admitted something she had never told anyone before. “I used to think forever didn’t exist,” she confessed. Adrian turned his head toward her slowly. “And now?” Serena smiled softly before answering. “Now I think forever might just feel like this.” Adrian pulled her closer, kissing the top of her head gently as the cold night wind moved around them. In that moment, neither of them questioned the future. Love felt simple when they were together. Love felt safe.
