Since Nicholas said those five words.
“I saw one of them.”
He wouldn’t say much more after that. His hands were trembling, his eyes… they weren’t just scared.
They look unsettled and haunted.
As if someone had broken him open and left his heart bleeding on the floor.
I didn’t pressure him. No, I didn’t need to; instead, I believed him.
Everything inside of me believed him.
It was the first ray of light we had seen in days, asides the voice calls and text messages.
Though, I felt that light didn’t feel safe. It felt… corrupted.
