ANNA’S POV
Just when I was hoping to unleash everything I had planned out since Nicholas dared me “let’s see just how far you’re willing to go”.
That’s when my phone rang at 5:45am.
Nicholas called as early as possible letting me know he would be working from home.
Trust me, I had been thinking about this moment all morning, not in the usual way I think about work, or schedules, or the meetings Nicholas needed me to arrange, no.
But guess what? This was different.
I thought about how his jaw tightens when he’s deep in thought. You need to see the way I am smiling to myself like I won the lottery.
The way his voice drops, low and commanding, without him even realizing it.
If I’m being honest, I thought Ava had been in his space for far too long.
I told myself I wasn’t jealous.
