NICHOLAS’S POV I kept on pondering on who could have called with a private line, I know I have enemies but not to this extent. I poured myself a drink; unblended whiskey, the same drink type I got the night the twins were born. I stared at it long before bringing it to my lips. The burn in my throat was nothing compared to the fire raging inside me. The house felt too boring without the kids. Just too much silence. The silence plays tricks on your mind and makes you start hearing things that aren’t there; little feet running, a giggle behind a door, the rustle of blankets down the hall.
