I was willing to forgive Nicholas, so close to accepting his apology, and ready to take that first small step toward rebuilding our trust before a text came in.
My breath caught as soon as I saw it, in my mind I was like see who I was trying to mend things with.
My chest tightened, and my fingers trembled as I held the phone in my hand. The sender’s name alone made my stomach turn.
