- Flashback -
As we arrived at the waterfall, the water cascaded down the rocky cliff face in a never-ending flow, the droplets shimmering in the sunlight as they tumbled down into the crystal-clear pool below. The sound of the water crashing against the rocks was deafening, a constant roar that filled the air and echoed through the valley.
We took a quick break, sitting down by the edge of the stream and sipping on some water to refresh ourselves. As I leaned down towards the small stream, I couldn't resist the urge to splash some water on my face, feeling the cool droplets wash over my skin and invigorate my senses.
We marvel at the beauty of the waterfall, the way the sunlight danced on the surface of the water and the way the mist rose up from the stream, creating a magical aura around the entire area. It was a peaceful moment, a chance to connect with nature and to appreciate the beauty that surrounded us.
In a split second, my world turned upside down. The rock beneath me started to wobble, and before I could even comprehend what was happening, I lost my balance and fell flat on my ass in the small stream. The icy water rushed over me, soaking my clothes and leaving me shivering and disoriented.
As I tried to pull myself up, a searing pain shot through my ankle, causing me to cry out in agony. I knew immediately that something was seriously wrong. I tried to stand, but my ankle gave out beneath me, and I fell back into the water with a splash.
How could I have been so careless? I had been so focused on the beauty of the stream that I hadn't been paying attention to my footing. And now, I was paying the price.
As I tried to stand up again, I realized that my ankle was badly swollen and bruised. The pain was excruciating, and I knew that I wouldn't be able to walk on it for a while. I felt a sense of panic rising inside me. How was I going to get out of here?
With a sinking feeling in my stomach, I realized that I would have to crawl out of the stream. It was a humiliating thought, but I had no other choice. I pulled myself up onto all fours, my stomach facing upwards, and began to crawl out of the water like a crab.
As I stumbled and fell, Cole's eyes immediately locked onto me, and he burst out laughing. I could feel my cheeks turning red with embarrassment as I tried to brush myself off, but the pain in my ankle was too much to bear. I groaned as I attempted to stand up again, but I couldn't put any weight on it.
Cole's laughter quickly turned to concern as he rushed over to me, his face serious as he helped me to my feet. I tried to put my foot down, but the pain was too much, and I winced as I lifted it back up.
"What's wrong?!" Cole asked, his voice filled with worry. He leaned down to get a closer look, and I pointed towards my ankle, which was now red and swollen. I could see the concern etched on Cole's face as he gently probed my ankle, checking for any signs of a fracture or sprain.
I winced as Cole placed his hands on my ankle, the pain shooting through me like a bolt of lightning. I bit down hard on my cheeks, trying my best not to scream in agony as he started to move my foot to the left and right, talking to himself as he twisted it in different directions.
I could feel my heart racing as I watched him work, his brow furrowed in concentration as he assessed the damage. I knew that I was in good hands, but the pain was almost too much to bear. I tried to focus on my breathing, to calm myself down, but it felt like my ankle was on fire.
As Cole continued to examine my ankle, I could hear him muttering to himself, trying to make sense of what he was feeling. I felt a sense of relief wash over me as he confirmed that it was just a sprain, and not a fracture. But before I could even stop it, a strangled cry managed to escape my mouth as he twisted my foot in a particularly painful direction. The tears started to flow down my cheeks as I struggled to keep my composure.
Cole looked up at me, his expression filled with concern. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to hurt you," he said, his voice gentle and reassuring. I could see the guilt etched on his face.
Cole surprised me by lifting me up in the air, hauling me into his arms and cradling me close to his chest. I felt a sense of warmth spread through me as I leaned into him, feeling safe and protected in his embrace.
"I don't think we can go on with the rest of the hike," Cole said, his voice firm but gentle. "Plus... I think you might even catch a cold with this wet sexy behind of yours!" He grinned at me mischievously, and I couldn't help but laugh, swatting playfully at his chest. He always knew how to make me laugh, even in the worst possible situations.
As we made our way through the mountains, Cole carried me with ease, his arms strong and supportive. I felt a sense of gratitude wash over me as I looked up at him, his face glowing in the sunlight. Despite the pain and the frustration, I felt a sense of peace and contentment, knowing that I was in good hands. We talked and laughed as we made our way back home, enjoying each other's company and the beauty of the mountains around us.
– End of Flashback –
A smile spread across my face as I thought back to one of the best memories I had with Cole. But as I drove down the deserted road, a sense of unease began to spread through my body. I couldn't quite put my finger on what was wrong, but I knew that something wasn't right.
The weather had been steadily getting worse, the sky darkening and the wind picking up speed. The rain was coming down in sheets, making it impossible to see the road ahead. The route I had taken was muddy and treacherous, and my wipers were going on overdrive as I tried to see through the rain-soaked windshield.
I knew that no one else was around for miles, and the thought made me feel even more uneasy. This was a remote area, and I doubted that anyone else knew about this route. The road was slick with mud, and I could feel the car slipping and sliding as I tried to keep it on the road.
I didn't know this road like the back of my hand, and I could feel my heart racing as I tried to navigate my way through the storm. The trees loomed overhead, their branches whipping back and forth in the wind. I felt a sense of isolation and vulnerability, alone in the middle of nowhere with no one to turn to.
Despite my fear, I tried to stay calm and focused, knowing that I had to get through this. I gripped the steering wheel tightly, my knuckles turning white as I navigated the treacherous road.
My heart was pounding in my chest as I drove down the dark and treacherous road. The rain was coming down in sheets, making it almost impossible to see anything in front of me. Suddenly, I saw a figure standing right in front of me, and my heart leapt into my throat.
I immediately pulled at the steering wheel, swerving out of the way in order not to hit whoever it was. It felt like everything moved in slow motion as I tried to regain control of the car. The figure turned to face me as I passed it, and I could see the fear in its eyes.
But my relief was short-lived as I hit a barrier, the impact jolting me forward and causing me to hit my head hard against the steering wheel. I could feel the warm blood trickling down my forehead as I struggled to stay conscious. The seat belt forced me back into the seat, but I could feel the pain shooting through my body.
As the car swerved out of control, I could feel my heart racing as I tried to regain control. But it was too late. The truck went careening off the cliff, hurtling down the mountain and crashing through the forest below.
My heart was racing as I tried to regain control of the car. But it was too late. A big tree suddenly loomed in front of me, and I could feel the panic rising in my chest. I tried to pull at the steering wheel, to swerve out of the way, but it was as if my truck had a mind of its own.
The impact was brutal, and I felt the car shudder as it crashed head-on into the tree. The sound was deafening, the metal crunching and twisting as the car crumpled around me. I could feel the seat belt digging into my chest, the airbag exploding in my face. And then, suddenly, everything went black. The world around me disappeared.
