Howling could be heard in the far distance. What the hell? That wasn't the usual hows o the patrols? Something had to be terribly wrong.
When I stopped in front of them, my father looked at me and then turned to face my mother. My father looked at my mother and asked, "Are you sure you heard the doctor right over the phone?" I could tell from the look on his face that he was hoping the signal was bad and my mom misunderstood the doctor, or that the doctor called the wrong people. "Yes, honey, he told us very clearly that Canna is pregnant and that we need to act quickly before word gets out." My mother said this as they both looked at me.
