Lin Wan Er sat in her office cubicle, the sky outside the window had already darkened. The lights of the city were gradually lighting up, but her attention was completely focused on the computer screen where her project report was displayed. Overtime had become her daily routine, but she never felt like complaining about it; instead, she felt it was a necessary part of growing up.
She tapped on the keyboard, numbers and charts jumped on the screen, her brows sometimes locked, sometimes stretched. Each data point was the cornerstone of her analysis, but today, those stones seemed extra heavy.
“Wan Er, still not gone?” Gu Ting Shen's voice suddenly sounded behind her, gentle and concerned.
Lin Wan Er raised her head and looked at Gu Ting Shen with some surprise: “Mr. Gu, why are you still at the company so late?”
“I just had a dinner party and stopped by to check in. How about you? This report is going to be used tomorrow, right?” Gu Ting Shen asked.
“Yes, I'm finalizing the data check.” Lin Wan'er replied, then added, “Mr. Gu, aren't you going home to rest?”
Gu Ting Shen smiled, “I'm not tired yet, and seeing that you're working so hard, how can I rest first?”
Lin Wan Er felt a trace of warmth, Gu Ting Shen's concern was like a warm current that eased her exhaustion from working overtime. She rededicated herself to her work, but this time, there was an extra strength in her heart.
Gu Tingxuan noticed that Lin Wan'er had encountered a problem and offered to help. They discussed the market data together, and some of Gu Tingxuan's insights enlightened Lin Wan'er.
“Mr. Gu, you're really great, why didn't I think of this?” Lin Wan Er said excitedly.
Gu Ting Shen smiled, “Wan Er, you're smart too, it's just that sometimes you need to look at things from a different perspective.”
The night of working overtime gave Lin Wan Er and Gu Ting Shen more opportunities to communicate. Not only did they discuss work, they also chatted about their hobbies and life experiences. Lin Wan Er discovered that Gu Ting Shen was not as unattainable as she had imagined, he had a humorous and affectionate side.
With her work finally done, Lin Wan Er stretched her back, feeling a sense of unprecedented ease and fulfillment. Gu Ting Shen glanced at her report and gave it a high evaluation.
“Wan Er, this report is very well done, I'm sure tomorrow's meeting will be a success.” Gu Ting Shen said.
Lin Wan Er smiled, “Thank you Mr. Gu, I couldn't have done so well without your help.”
Gu Ting Shen sent Lin Wan Er downstairs to the company and the two of them said goodbye in the night. Lin Wan Er's heart warmed as she walked home. She knew that tonight's experience wasn't just about completing a report, it had also given her a deeper understanding and different emotions towards Gu Ting Shen.
