The Survivors

The decision

Ria had been relieved by Dylan so decided to walk the wall one more time then make her way to bed for some sleep .

She walked back towards her flat .

Ria didn’t like being around others much so she had took the garage with the little two bedroom flat on top as hers this suited her well she had her room ,another room , a kitchen , shower and plenty of room downstairs for all the bikes she had collected in the garage area and her training area for her boxing .

Eric crossed her mind as she walked up the stairs but she quickly dismissed it and fell into bed still fully clothed .

Soon as she closed her eyes she saw his face she rolled over and groaned and then suddenly there was a crackle on the radio it was Bills voice “ Ria u there “ quickly she rolled over “ yeah I’m here “ she responded .

“ Hey how are you this morning “ he asked

“ Tired she laughed just come off the night watch “

“ To tired for visitors ?” He asked

“ Absolutely not “ she answered she suddenly felt wide awake and a flutter of excitement swept across her .

“ I like to bring some of my people to meet you and look round is that ok “ he asked .

“ Of course “ Ria responded .

“ See you soon then “ he laughed

“ Will do “ she said

The radio still crackled but was silent she laid there for a little while then decided to get up and shower ready for the visit she couldn’t help feeling excited she would see Eric again after all .

Back at the compound Bill broke the news to the others he would take everyone to view the compound for themselves then they could have a vote on it .

Eric felt excitement he would see her again .

But then he shook his head no he couldn’t have feelings it’s bad to care he seen to many people loose loved ones in this world it easier not to care plus he knew nothing of love or s*x he had his right hand didn’t need a woman .

He never been with one never even kissed one and wanted to keep it that way .

He walked over to Bill “ I’ve decided I will stay here today let the others go “ he said .

Bill looked surprised “ you sure I thought you would want to come again ?”

“ Na seen all I need to I trust ya I go with your decision “ Eric replied .

“Any reason for that “ Bill chuckled .

Frustrated from the lack of sleep due to all his over thinking he couldn’t answer he just shook his head negatively instead .

So they loaded the truck up snd Eric and a young lad called josh stayed behind .

As soon as the truck drive away he regretted the choice but it was for the best .

Ria awaited the arrival of the visitors with great expectation.

As the truck pulled in the gate she found herself looking for him but hd wasn’t there .

“ Hey “ she said to bill then embraced him in a hug “ where’s Eric ?” She questioned bill .

“ He decided to stay behind let the others come he already seen the place “ he answered “ oh ok “ she replied with more sadness than she meant to express .

Bill met her gaze “ Is that ok “ Bill chuckled “ of course “Ria quickly changed the subject feeling Bill could read her mind as she struggled to cover the disappointment she was feeling .

“ So who’s who ?” She said .

Bill introduced everyone and Gordon came out to do the tour Ria decided to excuse herself now and try to get some sleep after all .

Ria woke to someone calling her name “ Eric “ she said half dreaming still “ no it’s me Bill “ Bill stuck his head round the door “ something you wanna tell me “ he laughed .

“ Don’t be silly I must of been dreaming “ she replied .

“ I bet “ he laughed .

“ How did the tour go “ she asked deflecting the conversation.

“ Yep all good when can we move ?“ he asked grinning .

“ How about today ?“ she replied grinning from ear to ear .

“ Lets do it “ bill said .

He had came and sat on the edge of her bed so she reached up and gave him a hug .

He released her and walked to the door .

“ Eric Eric Eric “ he joked as he walked to leave Ria rolled her eyes and got up sorted herself out and followed him to the office .

The tour had gone well .

Everyone was in agreement about the move Bill radio Eric who didn’t say much but then that was normal though he did seek vaguer than usual .

So they loaded up the truck and Ria agreed to follow in a truck to help them bring there belongings across to the compound .

Eric saw the trucks approaching and told Josh to open the gate .

The trucks came in he slammed the gate .

Eric made his way down from the tower and as he turned round Ria exited the truck and stood in front of him with her serious expression her head c****d to one side.

“Well looks like we going to be neighbours then red neck” she commented .

Eric still straight faced nodded positively.

“ I best get my stuff “ he said and as he walked away he called over his shoulder “ stop calling me red neck “ her eyes followed him the grin on her face now .

Eric went in started packing his stuff he didn’t have much this is going to get complicated he thought half anxious half excited.

Ria watched him from behind thinking the same .
